Just thought I'd post two movies I finished recently for my media arts class...

Project Death: Aliens Vs. Clowns:

If this movie doesn't make any sense, well that's okay. I don't really understand it myself. The criteria for this project was film 5-10 second scenes of different genres. So in this movie, we have action hero, drama, romance, horror, and sci-fi. Instead of stringing together individual scenes like everyone else, we tried to make a story out of it.

Awkward Moments

After our first video, my friend Nathan and I were given permission to make whatever sorts of movies we want in media arts class (as our teacher realized we know what we're doing). So we decided to write out a script for an action/spy movie. The end result was an epic 15 page screenplay called "Italian Boom", with a sequel already being written. Unfortunately, we need to film this on our own time, as we need a lot of actors. Italian Boom is on hold until we can find a high definition camera to use, as we are sick of filming with standard definition DV camcorders, and we want this movie to look perfect.

ANYWAYS, since we can't make Italian Boom until we find an HD camera and some free time, we decided to use our class time wisely, and make a filler video to make the teacher happy. This movie is a compilation of awkward moments, and how Randy solves them. This was my first time using Adobe After Effects, and I think it turned out alright. I used clips from the Action Essentials 2 pack to create the blood, shells, and muzzle flashes.

Here are a few other videos I've done in the past:

Banana Phone:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U3y9XK4bhFo
A music video for media arts class, which won an award at our school film competition. I won an iTunes card. Lots of Dream Theater was purchased.

Epic:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FK70MGW3gzE
An epic movie trailer, also for our school film competition last year (In HD!)

The Legend of Chancho:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PpblbuS931Y
A western show down, also for our school film competition (In HD!)

Star Wars in 5 Minutes:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WrLlCacp03A
The entire Star Wars Saga in 5 minutes. Includes cool lightsaber effects that took WAY too long to create.
---

We're going to try and shoot our future videos in HD (as the school Canon DV cameras we use aren't the best quality), but it's been tough finding one to use. Our friend (the girl in Project Death) has one, but she has a concussion, and we haven't been able to use it.

Feel free to post constructive criticism

GBAtemp should be legally obligated to ban them, as its against the law to collect information from users under 13 because of COPPA. :tpi:

VR is like 3D TVs in my opinion it's cool and all but it doesn't have enough great content.

VR had the chance to integrate with existing games and tech but VR companies said "NO, I WANT MY SHIT TO BE STANDALONE AND MY GAMES EXCLUSIVE TO FACEBOOK"

  • Veho @ Veho:
Back when Oculus Rift was still starting out and being demoed around, they modded existing games to use it as a 360° immersive screen thing and that was AMAZING.

The tech isn't there for affordable power enough VR headsets at a good market value yet sadly, oculus had a good idea but didn't have enough funds for marketing iirc

But now it's "can I use my VR set with my racing games, that would be neat?" "ONLY IF YOU USE OUR DILDOSTICK CONTROLLERS AND RUN THE GAME ON OUR ANDROID-UNDERPOWERED BRICK"

  • Veho @ Veho:
The tech to have quality VR goggles at an affordable price is here, but every set has to have 4 additional controllers and be standalone.

These are the same type of gamers that spend $2,000 on a GPU when a $600 GPU gives nearly the same outcome which is what the market looks at for them to do spend more on unneeded bs

If we're talking AAA titles a vr headset would be priced at nearly the same cost as a midrange gaming pc maybe even double
