Name the Switch successor: what should Nintendo call its new console?

switch2.jpg

Nintendo has officially announced that a successor to the beloved Switch console is on the horizon. As we eagerly anticipate what innovations this new device will bring, there's one fun piece of the puzzle left undecided: its name.

The name of a console is more than just a label; it's the first impression, a brand identity, and often, a crucial element in its success or failure. Think back to the Nintendo Wii, which despite its unusual name, revolutionized gaming with its motion controls and family-friendly appeal. On the flip side, we have the Wii U, whose name caused quite a bit of confusion and didn't resonate as well with the audience.

This is where you come in! Nintendo has always been about innovation and community, and what better way to honor that spirit than by inviting you, the fans, to help name the next generation console? Whether you think it should be something classic like the "Switch 2" or something more creative like "Super Switch Ultra Deluxe" we want to hear your most creative and catchy ideas. Don't hold back—post your naming ideas in the comments below. Feel free to upvote the names you love, and why not add your twist to someone else’s suggestion?

Wonder what the theme of the next console, and special gimmick will be to set it apart? I heard about the possibility of magnetic joycons, so maybe something to do with that? I wonder if they would endeavor to utilize folding LED tech like the Samsung Z fold/flip?

Also their recent Mario outing Wonder could be a new direction?

I feel like from a Design standpoint, it would be cooler to move away from the Switch trademark and do something New. Adding onto the Switch might be tacky. But then again who knows.

Nintendo Wonder, Wondertab, Wonderscroll
Nintendo Magnetic, MagNet, Field, Stasis
Nintendo Fold, Oragami, Kami

I'd be surprised if they got rid of the name "Switch" as the first was and still is so successful.

Nintendo Switch _(insert new name here)_

Games we need:

New games:
SNES Remix
N64 Remix
Super Mario Odyssey 2
Super Mario Maker 3
F-Zero
A new traditional RPG Paper Mario game
A 3D Yoshi game!
A new Harvest Moon
Mother 4?

Remasters/Remakes

Ocarina of Time
Link Between Worlds
Super Mario 3D Land
Mario Kart Wii. (yes, I'm serious. Physics are perfect)

Virtual Console (just plz don't make it a crappy sub service...)

Just like the old days most N64 games $10, SNES $8, NES and older, $5.
Gamecube $15.

If without crappy subscription service, you can finally KEEP Goldeneye FFS...

@Xdqwerty, Yeah, I'd recommend having another OS just in-case you want to play games.

At least Linux doesn't contain spyware than what Windows has.

    @SylverReZ, cuz of lag?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, No. Whenever you use the internet on Windows, Microsoft collects personal data and installs bloatware that isn't necessarily needed, such as Edge.

    @SylverReZ,
I recall @impeeza mentioned some trick about not having bloatware when installing windows where you set up your country to "world" or smh like that

Yes, you can debloat the operating system, but in some cases for me it just reinstalls them.

@Xdqwerty yes, when you are installing Windows on the first steps you are asked for your current location, you MUST to select «international» so no bloatware is installed, because the bloatware is location based. if this night I have some time I will setup a VM and take screenshots.
