this is a real project. not only does @newo learn new things by creating this for his own good but also for the good of the wii scene.

:grog:
Making games from scratch or even porting them is not a simple task but there is alot of documentation and help out there for those who are interested in it.

I get asked if am gonna port it to vita or 3ds where there are more players. But its not really about the amount of players its more about being able to think about something THEN actually being able to create it.

The wii in a way is simpler than alot of these other systems at least to me. I mean there are still lots of people coding pico8 and nes games. But i do wii stuff.

How does it "overheat" exactly? Temps are not concern when it comes to Wiis. Are you sure it's not something else, like a worn out fan or perhaps dry thermal pads?

May be the fan, I just don't wanna risk opening it as I never repaired a Wii.

Been following this for a while. It's a really stunning looking game and quite fun too! I'm glad it is getting the spotlight because more people need to play and talk about it. So many cool little details.

If the author sticks with this game instead of moving on to a different project, I'd like to see some different vehicles with speed/handling/shield differences. It'd also be nice to get a new cup that focused on AI racers.

A new project, even if it's not my cup of tea, would also be interesting. The author's games have a beautiful sense of style. I always thought Newo Sky was gorgeous as well.

This has become a project that I'd like to see released in physical form. Unfortunately, I can't play as often as I wanted, but this was a homebrew project that I played with keen interest. Playing it on the real hardware is something to experience.

If the Wii doesn’t work right and you have a spare, then this is the perfect opportunity to learn. Maybe it’ll be an easy fix. The worst that can happen is, you permanently (subjective) damage the Wii. Then you’ll be forced to part with it. Or you can keep it for spare parts. Or make some type of art from it. Dive in! :)

    But it's a dead end

@Psionic Roshambo, people who cant download it can still play the game

If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

@BigOnYa, i only have like 1 or 2 mb sec

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, why did you start saying my pc has a hamster in the first place?

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

also @BigOnYa im making some progress on my gdevelop project, implemented various mechanics

They went all in on streaming, should have been more of a hybrid approach

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

@BigOnYa, although the bullets are a bit buggy

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
