It looks like a normal DS board crammed into a different shell.
I wonder if you can install Flashme on it or if it works with normal DS features like download play and such?

It looks like the bottom of an original DS and the top of a DS Lite.

When said like that, could be amusing. Wait, must have some custom bits, since I doubt the hinges and connectors would be the same.

Where did you get this?

Never mind, I googled. Looks like this has been posted on several forums.

Every time I see a case mod, or some bastard hybrid like this, I start looking at broken DS lites on ebay with the desire to teach myself more on how to fix them.

Then I wander off to make a sandwich, and forget about the whole thing.

If it is just a refurb DS wedged into a new shell I can go it. If it is an actual clone I am quite interested, the custom menu thing though... not sure quite where that falls in the grand scheme of things (actual custom firmware- that is above and beyond what most clone companies do, simple autoboot to program- less so)..

i used to go out to the recycling center every couple weeks and look at the crts and other electronics people would drop off. Usually screens were broken or severely scratched from being tossed around. Did find a good one here and there, but never anything like a 1080i widescreen crt.

Is it piracy if it was released for free? Not in my opinion, but I also think it's not piracy if buying it isn't owning it, and it's not piracy if you can't buy it from the original creators anymore.
