Oh God it's been years since I've seen this! I remember it got an iOS port a long while back, but I imagine it was a 32 bit game that wasn't updated, since there's no trace of it on the store anymore.
I bought a physical copy of it off Mercari like a year ago complete and in great shape for about $12 USD. Very fun game. ^_^

Although I'm not sure if it's obscure enough for this thread... I'm fond of Obscure (xD).

It's a survival horror from 2004. Similar to Resident Evil Code Veronica, it makes you explore a highschool filled with monsters and puzzle with a team of teenagers looking for their missing friend.

Each character has a special ability useful on either battle or exploration (Ashley does double-attacks, Josh can detect unpicked items, the bad boy can pinlock, Kenny runs faster than anyone, etc).

The has many lovable aspects... the music eery yet mystifying, the scenarios are well done and some parts (like darkened windows) can be destroyed to get advantage against creatures, the story and characters are great and you can play with a friend in co-op.

I have yet to play the sequel, Obscure 2, but since I heard it sucks in many areas, I'm postponing it.

===============================

Let's continue with another: Trauma Center (DS, 2005)

Half surgeon simulator (with some scify elements), half visual novel... a hard yet gratifying game.
I remember playing it at night, hidden under the covers so my parents wouldn't realize I wasn't sleeping in school nights.

The game had a sequel for DS, a remake for Wii and two sequels/spinoffs also for Wii (better graphics, worse controls).
Then Atlus killed the franchise, probably due to low sales  I wish they had at least tried to release a new entry for 3DS...

==============================

Ok, a last one: Tzar for PC.

A Bulgarian RTS from 2000. Nice midi music and 2D graphics, plus historic or fictional campaigns with dubbed sections...
It's a nice game, although the gameplay isn't very balanced and has some bugs here and there...

Some guys recently created an online version for browsers with many QoL improvements, if you're interested on trying it https://tza.red/

Stella Glow, 3DS.
Funny little JRPG with multiple endings. If you like Fire Emblem games, you will like it.

There's a mobile roguelite called Caves, avaible for Android (i don't think it is for iPhone), that most closely resembles a traditional roguelike for me.
It's turn based and has pretty cool pixelated graphics, 16bit style. It is a really good game for mobile phones, i wish the devs would made a PC port.

Too bad this is run on a emulator for not all sound effects work as i remember them on a super famicom.

This was going to be my answer too - but I own a boxed complete SFC cart, so I run it natively. It's the third game in the series after Alien Crush (PCE/TG16) and Devils Crush/Crash (PCE/TG16/MD and the localized 'Dragons Fury' Genesis/MD release) and was followed by the equally obscure Kyu Ten Kai Fantastic Pinball on Playstation 1.
All great, but the MD release of Devil Crash specifically is still my favourite.

Sonic 4 Windows Phone version.

Why? It looks and feels like a GBA game so that's why it's so good, in my opinion! Wii also has two versions similar to it; Beta and Prototype. Both of them also play a lot faster and better than the final game (which felt very sluggish and glossy for some reason).

Okami isn't really obscure though imo.

It has (or had) enough popularity to gain an HD remaster (PS3) and even a PC port of said HD remaster.
Okami has been released in many different platforms. It was a commercial failure but not exactly obscure. In fact, I dare say it's artistic design is unparallel in Ps2.

Despite the remasters (having played both the original and remasters) the amount of attention spent to the game by the public simplely leads me to believe it's still obscure.

Not many people I know also know Okami.

DLC will be a svelt 32K download lol
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I think you only get like 425gb on a series s hard drive, so you get 1, 2 next gen games max
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, so you need to have another series s if you wanna play more games?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Nuh you buy extra HD n add to it, but not cheap
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@BigOnYa, how can a console have more than 1 hard drives?
  • MysticStarlight @ MysticStarlight:
usb expansion? I know the PS4 can do this
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@MysticStarlight, oh Yea I recall my PS3 can do that
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    Modded ofc
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
Speaking of my PS3 i havent downloaded any games yet bc my wifi is too slow
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
and also because blackouts here are very common and that could damage the console
  • MysticStarlight @ MysticStarlight:
Do you have a surge protector or an UPS?
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Yea but to play the next gen games, you must have those games on internal, or buy the official ssd expansion cards, which are expensive
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@MysticStarlight, dunno what each one of those are
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@MysticStarlight, my PS3 was already modded when my dad bought it for me and my brother
  • MysticStarlight @ MysticStarlight:
A surge protector is a device that protects your electronics from fluctuations. I recommend having your console plugged into one of those
  • MysticStarlight @ MysticStarlight:
An UPS is even better because it has an internal battery that keeps your system on even if the power goes out, but it's much more expensive obviously
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@MysticStarlight, oh i recall seeing one in some in the houses of some relatives, including my dad's apartment
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@MysticStarlight, although whatever device we plug into them stops getting power anyways lol
  • MysticStarlight @ MysticStarlight:
    that's weird
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@MysticStarlight, and oh i was talking about ups
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    No not that one
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
Surge protectors are what i was talking about
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
Yea I got confused for a bit

    +1
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
On the series s/x you can use a external HD but any next gen games must be on your internal ssd, or you can buy a ssd expansion card, but pricey. Any xbone, 360, or og Xbox games can be played from external tho.
