Oem OG Xbox Controller won't control home brew. Will ogx360?

So I'm using one of these.

It won't control homebrew. I don't know why.
For example, chimp won't boot and XBlast_OS won't control.

I'm thinking its the OEM controller.
Why is that?

and will this work any better? I'm going to try this with a 8bitdo.

well, the teensy 4.1 port anyway. Anybody know? I'll report back when it gets here.

That Amazon link doesn't work. But I'll assume it's a knock-off controller just by the name.

Some knock-off controllers poorly replicate Microsoft (or OEM, in general) controllers and some homebrew just won't work. I can't say for sure, but I think due to differing controller (serial) protocol. The same thing happens with GameCube controllers.

Well. Reporting back.

So I tried a keyboard with XBlast_OS and Chimp via a usb adapter. Worked fine in dashboard. Not in homebrew.

So I hooked this up:

with an 8bitdo adapter v2 and a switch controller

XBlast_OS works now, but Chimp still didn't. Oh well. TSOP'ed so I could unlock hard drive and make a new one via PC and drop in.

That Teensy adapter works fantastic. Very impressive.

So strange on CHIMP.
