Hello everybody. I have a problem with my toshiba 1TB hdd. It spins out automatically after some minutes, and this is important. Everythink works fine, but when playing nintendont the hdd will eventually for some reason spin out, so the wii crashes. This makes impossible to play any game. The crash doesn't always happens at the same time mark, sometimes it will take a bit more or a bit less to crash, but it always will. The things is that i've tried the hdd in my friends's wii, and it worked flawlessly. the only difference is that my friend's wii has some kind of -i think- bluetoth semibrick, so it can't connect to the internet. the things i've tried include, but are not limited to:
-eliminating all partitions and formating again with 32k cluster size
-disconnecting form the internet
-installing ios 31 and 80 stock, because i had riiconnect24
-loading nintendont from sd
-loading nintendont from usb loader gx
-starting nintendont directly from homebrew channel
-disabling standby connection (yellow light)
-installing cios d2x (yes, i know they're not needed to use nintendont, but i did it just in case)
-installing sysmenu 4.3 via wad and ios 58 again, then reinstalling homebrew channel
Im really tired of not being able to play anything. Any help apreciated.
Thanks.

Its most likely that your HDD is not supported. Perhaps try one that is 250GB or less. Do you have a SysCheck report?
But is it really possible that a wii with a probable bluetooth semi-brick supports something that other perfect wii can? Here's my syscheck, as you will see it's impossible to install bootmii on this wii, while in my friend's one its possible since that one was made on 2006.

Scroll down to find your 1tb USB HDD compatibility :
https://wiki.gbatemp.net/wiki/USB_Devices_Compatibility_List

Could also be that your USB HDD isn't getting enough power (external or Y cable power needed) &/or has auto sleep-mode. This could be disabled with the correct tools. Google manufacturer's site for possible answers.

The list doesn't mention my exact hard drive, one guy claimed that his toshiba drive would just go in sleep mode when using dios-mios, but since im using nintendont and the drive works on the other wii this doesnt seem to be the exact problem. I tried to search for a tool to disable sleep mode, which i forgot to mention my drive has, thats a fact, and found only one tool from 2010 or so. It doesnt recognize my hard drive so it wont work. Since the hdd worked on the other wii i dont think is a power-supply problem.
This problem could be solved just by disabling autosleep mode, but that seems imposible. Sorry if im being annoying, i just want to play gamecube games. Thanks

After the crash, put it in a Windows PC and run a "Scan for Errors".

See if it says "Windows has found errors on the drive and repaired them".

Then go into Folder Options and check the box for "Show Hidden System Files"

Then go into the root of your Hard drive and see the folder called "Found.000" with some files inside called "file fragments".

Check the size of those fragments.

If this shows up, it's most likely a hard drive crash resulting from under powering the hard drive (the Wii doesn't have enough electricity from a single USB port to power 90% of external hard drives) if you have that 10% you're lucky. But, if you don't, you're underpowering the hard drive if you're not using a Y cable plugged into both USB ports on the back of the Wii.

I have a black 1TB "Canvio Ready" Toshiba drive which does not work with a single port, but works with two and a Y cable. Check the files in Found.000, the size of the files (if it's a significant amount) is the amount of files that got corrupted because the drive crashed.)

If Windows says "No Errors were found" it's most likely a sleep function activating.

It's possible your friend's Wii has different configurations to yours (For example: Emunand saves is turned Off on his, but on yours, it's turned On). This would mean the drive would be Reading AND Writing, whereas on his Wii it's just reading, so it can just function.

Or, you can invest in a large capacity SDXC, transfer your apps, & you can store your GC with room to spare. I used a Samsung evo+ 512 micro SDXC without any issues.
Just do a little research, first :)

Sorry for being late, but thank you all so much for your help. I've run the test suggested by zebragreen, and i've effectively found the "found.000" files. It seems the underpowering is the reason. Maybe my friend's wii has more power? i dont know. I will have to buy a y cable. Oh, and i also got my cios updated in the process!

Thank you all so much for the help
