Hardware Homebrew ROM Hack Project+ on vWii through an SD Card

last night i was trying to put Project+ on my Wii U because i didn't want to play vanilla Brawl but it didn't work...
it was always a black screen- i checked my brawl wbfs on both emulator and running it on hardware and it was completely fine- so i have no clue what the problem is

i'm using USBLoader GX loading games from the SD Card, i set up everything using a guide on Reddit, here are the steps i followed

i'm confused on what i could've done wrong, or if i'm even doing something wrong...
hopefully someone on here knows what kind of problem this is

Try another Brawl that's NTSC-U and 7.92 GB.

Set Brawl's "Game IOS" to 249.

Change HookType to AXnextFrame.

Check if all mod files were copied to SD card.

Try a new SD card (FAT32 format), USB loader and/or Brawl mod.

PMEX: REMIX 0.95DX comes with its own USB loader app.

In Homebrew Channel, click on REMIX USB Loader.

Select Brawl's location (USB Mass Storage or SD Card) with D-pad and press A.

Scroll to Brawl (RSBE) with D-pad and press A.

Click on Options.

Try IOS set to 245, 249 or 250 with Hooktype set to AXnextFrame, VBI, GxDraw or Wii Pad Hook.

Set Ocarina to ON.

Save settings by clicking SAVE.

What size is your SD card? I think most Brawl mods only work with small SD cards (I believe the limit is 32GB, but someone might have to fact check this)

That's correct, only up to SDHC cards are supported for Brawl mods - SDXC cards will not work

it's 32GB, it's a bit thin on space but Project+ is mostly what i wanted it for

edit: it's also just a Micro SD card with an SD Card adapter, i haven't run into any other issues with it but maybe that could also be the problem?

i tried the first method but it didn't work, so i tried with PMEX Remix, and it still crashes but at least this time it threw an error instead of the black screen
i used IOS250 and AXnextFrame Hooktype if that means anything for this error

Backup the files on existing SD card, but skip Brawl mod files.

Format existing or new SD card to FAT32.

If SD card is more than 32GB, make the first partition less than 32GB.

Copy files from backup to reformatted SD card.

Extract Brawl mod files from download to SD card.

Try older Brawl mods without formatting SD card.

Use BrawlBuilder to create a modded Brawl ISO with Project M: Patt or Fully Dressed editions.
