PS4 FPKG Enabler on PS5 Firmware 4.03 has been released

The Homebrew scene for PlayStation systems has been growing steadily, and today marks another big breakthrough for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 hacking.

Hacking developer sleirsgoevy has released a homebrew app titled "PS4 FPKG Enabler", which basically allows a PS5 system to run fake PS4 package files (known as FPKG) while on a firmware version of 4.03. The process requires the user to execute the binary file through a wireless connection by taking note of their IP address, and accessing a specific website on the PS5 that will prompt for the payload to be injected with the message "waiting for payloads", then via a computer (or any device/method of sending files through a wireless connection) the PS4 FPKG bin file is sent to the PS5. In case the PS5 of the user gets frozen or reboots, all that's needed is to retry the browser's link until the message of "waiting for payloads" appears.

This payload also enables the Debug mode in the system. As of the time of writing, this works only for PS5's with a system firmware of 4.03, and while this is relatively new, it could get backported into other hackable firmwares, like 3.00 up to 4.51, in the future.

They are fun, I remember clearing all of them before finishing the game, hopefully you have the Complete Edition with the Frozen Wilds DLC.
The only enemies I'm having a hard time with are Rockbreakers and there are videos that show how to defeat them, but bI want to learn it on my own. Guessing the explosives help a lot and such.

Other than two side quests featuring Rockbreakers, the other side quest is Frozen Wilds (think I'll leave that for later).

guys, is it still easy to get low FW ps5?
No but you could find one at Ebay but be warned that it will be very expensive. I have a PS5 with FW 2.30 when it was first released and it was 500 dollars 500 Euro. Now with this low FW, whew... very expensive right now.

Curious for those that got this to run on their PS5 - do the PS4 fpkgs play the same on the PS5 like on the PS4 or better? (higher fps, better graphics, etc)

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.

I live maybe 3 minutes from a Dairy Queen, so I would just go there for ice cream anything anyways. I usually get the Oreo Blizzard, or a Peanut Buster Parfait.
