Hacking Ps4 on 4.55. Can I log to PSN just once to enable USB backup?

Hello, how are you?

I have a Ps4 on 4.55 and I use hen vtx to play pkg games.
Since this ps4 is used like this, I don't connect to the internet and never did.
I use my android phone to host the exploit.
Now I am trying to backup my save game data to be able to upgrade my hdd and I don't want to lose my game progress.
I tried to access the savedata manager to copy to USB.
But the console said I was not connected to the internet.
From what I gather online, it is required to do a one time login to PSN to enable the offline USB savedata backup and restore.
Anyway I can do this while on 4.55?

From what I understand, your saves are locked to your PSN. In order to activate your PSN on your PS4, you need to connect online.

Nope you cant access PSN stuff on 4.55 if you want to keep Homebrew

Should be able to backup the saves manually but give it time.

Afaik you can back up your saves with stooged SG DB Backup payload.

But I'm unsure whether you can simply restore the saves after a new hdd or formatting.

I would assume stooged made this with the purpose of being able to restore them, but I have never had to, so havent tested it.

To test: run stooged backup payload, back up your save games, delete the least favourite save game, and copy back the one from the usb via ftp.

Of course this should work fine, I imagine its tied to FW/Console ID/USER in some combo.

If anyone has backed up saves, formatted the ps4 and restored the saves: can you please @ mention me to confirm.

Another option would be the full backup and restore.
Not just the savedata backup and restore that requires PSN.
Any idea if the full backup and restore works on 4.55 without internet and PSN?

Yes, it is.
USB backup should always work offline...
Another thing I am thinking...
Is that I currently have a Ps4 and am playing some games on it of course.
But if I manage to get a pro on 4.55 for a good price I would get it.
But then I would like to transfer my save games for my pkg games from the ps4 to the ps4 pro.
And from what I gather, there is no way to accomplish that wich sucks to be honest...

The only way would be SG DB backup payload, but I don't know if that would work on that scenario. Or if the savedata is locked to the ps4 and cannot be injected by ftp on the ps4 pro...

As long as its same console, with same username, I would think it (SG DB Backup and ftp restore) will work.

Different console = nope.
Different username = probably not.
Different HDD = probably.

This needs to be tested and confirmed

I could be wrong but I haven't find a single case where one was able to restore a stooge's savegame backup. I wanted to play with his payload and modify it to test a single gamesave recovery but my TODO list is miles long with things with higher priority... ^__^;

Absolutely, I have never needed to restore yet either, and my PS4 is in storage right now...

If someone could confirm or deny this with a test it would be great.

From what I remember, FTP was useless with savegames, I couldn't cd in a single title dir, it "looped" back to the home dir or something like that, that's why I wanted to use the FS directly with Stooge's payload.

It looks like lightningmods_ is working of a file manager, its hinted at in his wip homebrew, I would think its possibly based off PS4fileNinja?

Yes, I did full HDD backup, put 2TB Firecuda drive in, installed 4.55 full restore file, then restored HDD backup, everything back to how it was before.

unlikely. the hdd is encrypted.

Im assuming it was from a 4.55 or earlier to a 4.55 right? If its the same PS4, you can throw whatever HDD you want in it and run the full HDD backup. But thats the key, it needs to be the EXACT same ps4. Only other option when migrating from PS4 to PS4 is to go online where it transfers the data but deactivates the old console.
