I've got a PS5 HDMI repair in front of me. After installing 2 ports (largely on the assumption the first one was defective or whatever), I tested the pads themselves after removing the second HDMI port. Pads 15&16 are shorted together. I know that's not normal. Where do those go to, so I can further diagnose? They run to nearby vias and disappear. The system itself seems to fully boot, as the light turns white, but obviously not displaying anything. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

these go string to hdmi encoder, so it's faulty.
take panasonic chip out and short should be gone, if that's gonna happen then u must replace. Ps5 won't turn on normally without working hdmi encoder

The short on pins 15 and 16 in my case are caused by these 2 diodes that have shorted, thanks @jkyoho for the original picture.

I've removed them and the shorts have gone, but still no display, could it be that the Panasonic hdmi IC has gone bad due to the shorted pins?

Anyone know what the values are for these diodes? I would have thought they are protection diodes and the console would output an image without them.

anyone here know how to use METEO?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    It's very simple.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Meteo is like an AVI-to-GBA converter. Just drag-and-drop your AVI file in, and then convert.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, like those gba carts that have movies and tv episodes in them?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
But Nintendo's GBA video format is different, being that it uses a custom ROM and chipset for rendering, for like the Shrek and Shark Tale titles. Been undumpable for years and years.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
    Meteo uses it's own player.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, those roms are dumped currently, right?

Although it's kinda pointless to download them anyway since you get the movies in horrible quality
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Yep, they are now, but it took a shit ton of RE'ing.

    RE = reverse engineering
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, can you remind me what reverse engineering meant pls?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Reverse engineering, to put it simply, is to understand how the software or hardware was made.
