Just have Preloader installed with skip disc update check hack enabled.

On top of that, install these IOSes too:
1)IOS37
2)IOS38
3)IOS53
4)IOS55

What if you install the "Don't check for update" hack but that the game really needs an update? I'm not necessarily talking about PunchOut, because I know the update isn't necessary.

But still, no one knows what this update does?

Bold 1 = If so, a thousand threads would come up with this somewhere along the title "I gotz Preloader andz diz game dosent workzz". Then a few helpers will come and tell him to check the game, extract all the new IOSes and install it. Problems will be solved. That was the issue when Animal Crossing, NFS, Madworld and Pikmin first came out.

Bold 2 = Possibly some weird update. Rip off the update partition in the ISO, tell us what's inside.

Ok, the IOS in the update partition are as follows:

10-17
20-22
28
30
31
33-37
4
50
53
55

Also, updates to mii channel, photo channel, shopping channel, forecast channel, End user license agreement, and system menu are in there too.

Now heres my thing. I have ALL those IOS installed, verified through Anytitle Deleter. AND I've done Waninkoko's 4.0 upgrader.

So why is it still asking me to do an update ????

And further, I tried Gecko OS (1.9.0.1) and yes, it plays the game just fine, but it DOES not install the IOS's as mentioned earlier to give you the ability to play from Disc Channel after that.

Anyone have any solutions, ideas ????

Oh, and Preloader worked once, but STILL asked me to do the update, even though I set it not to in the hacks. Then, when I restarted the system, it wasn't reading the hacks.ini because it showed the health warning sign (which I told it to skip) Am I doing something wrong ???? Did I configure it wrong ????

Update: I got it. Apparently the hacks I applied were not correct, I was using 3.2's while I was on 4.0. Updating hacks.ini and reinstalling Preloader fixed it right up. Yay !!!! Long live Preloader !!!!

I have cioscorp installed with rev9 and preloader, preloader blocks all disc update checks and it played straight away!

1. this is a noob question, but how do we install the ios 37, 38, ...? They come out with new versions of these all the time and finding them on the internet doesn't seem like the best option

2. would the best way be to use one of waninkoko's tools that get the ios from nintendo and keep using the tool to update? if so, which one, firmware downgrader?

3. is there any danger of things not working after installing these new ios everytime?

thanks

Okay, I decided to play it safe and install Preloader since it sounded really easy to do. And it indeed is, thanks to the Preloader guide on these forums. Pretty sure I'm ready to go when I get the actual disc, as I now have the "Stop Disc Update" option enabled.

Thanks to afif95 for his Preloader guide, to help out semi-n00bs like myself.

Which versions of these IOS are on the DVD ?? Maybe you have an older version of one of the IOS ?? , can you give the version details please ?

I'm curious about this now......

I'm getting this game too (PAL) so will come back to fill in the blanks if no one has before me.

From what I understand people who have this and are up to date (4.0) get asked to do an update, but if they run the game through a launcher EG Gamma, or other they can play fine, some say they have all the IOS, but no one mentions the VERSIONS of the IOS they have, or the versions on the DVD. They get asked to do an update if it's launched through the disc channel.

More info please

I Just ran the update on the disk in my hard mod wii
It was a 4.0e Updated via Nintendo
First softmod after 4.0e

Homebrew channel worked fine
Play Games Off SD worked fine

It reinstalled (they where deleted)
Weather
News
Tried to reinstall photo channel 1.1 folder is there but doesnt show indash

why is everyone flapping about installing via the disk?

After i had tested it i did a restore of my nand from 5mins before
and set my wiikey2 not to allow disk updates
game works fine without any updates

That's the 3.4 update, and let's remember that after 3.3, all the IOS had been fixed of the fake-signing bug, so unless the app runs off a cIOS, it wont work..!!

I want to play my disc version, but its asking for an update. Madworld did this for me too, and I just did the update. Everything was fine with madworld, but I dont know about this one. Has anyone done the update yet?

I just dont want to mess up my wii and would like some confirmation

I got the same problem with the PAL version (on PAL system) that I bought, the game lock up everytime I start it from the main menu.

And if I remove starfall update protection, the game ask me an update (I'm in 3.2E).

So I just play it from the Gamma Loader (with the original disc), it works perfectly with it (I play it with the "002 error version removed").

I just soft-modded my wii 3 days ago, so im a noob. Sorry for noob question. I just installed the Bannerbomb hack for 4.0U, nintendo install, & I have wad installs working from wad manager, games working on backup launcher gamma, ect. The only thing that bugs me now, is that whenever I try to play my burned "Punch Out!!", it bugs me to update. I tried preloader to block it, in which it does, but then says error has occured on disc. Tried BrickBlocker to remove update, same thing. The game plays fine through gamma backup, but it would be nice to fix this, so I can use it through the disc channel, like other games. Is it safe to install the update from the disc, or the official disc (in which I do have), & still have wad installs, homebrew channel, ect. working?
