The beta isn't that great...Just wait another 2 weeks for the real deal.
It's fun and all, but the beta only contains the first world of the story mode, and so far only very few decent levels have been published by users.
Wading through tons of shitty and unfinished levels just is no fun at all. I'm not saying user-generated content will be much better in the first weeks after the official launch, but it's just astounding how much popularity even the shittiest levels are getting.
Putting much effort into levels is also a very bad idea at this point, since they most likely won't make it into the full version of the game and you're most likely not even going to be able to recover them. To top it all, the editor of the beta (which is said to be an "old build" - whatever that means) is ridden with nasty bugs that just make everything uncomfortable.
Tell you what: I was putting hard effort into a kick-ass level, but the closer I came to finishing it, the more parts of the level just started to break apart for no reason, even though the objects I created were (supposedly) fixated and stuck together for good. And I'm not joking: I finished one part, tested it thoroughly and made sure it doesn't just fall apart, then I scrolled to some other part in my level, edit and add some things here and there, and next time I check the part from before, it either broke apart or was GONE entirely (no fucking kidding). Hell, that was no fun. And I'm not talking about a single incident here, it happened ALL THE FUCKING TIME.
So, what ultimately kept me from publishing my level? I was standing in my pod (aka "game's main menu") and shut off my PS3, and next time I attempted to start the game, my savedata was corrupt. No fun at all.
