Super Smash Bros. Brawl Game Disc information
If you have recently purchased Super Smash Bros. Brawl and are experiencing technical problems playing the game on your Wii, please read the following information to learn how this issue can be resolved.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl utilises a double-layer disc which has a large memory capacity. A very small percentage of Wii consoles may have trouble consistently reading data off this large capacity disc if there is some contamination on the lens of the disc drive. Nintendo has specialised cleaning equipment that can resolve this problem. Please do NOT attempt to clean the lens yourself, as you may damage the system.

If you are experiencing disc read errors, please contact consumer Support. They will provide information regarding sending your Wii to Nintendo to have the disc drive lens cleaned. There is no cost for the repair or shipping. (Please note: Returning the disc to the retail store will not solve the problem. We encourage users who are experiencing issues with playing Super Smash Bros. Brawl to utilise Nintendo’s repair service.)

Due to the nature of this particular issue, Wii owners should not lose any of their stored data, such as Virtual Console games and WiiWare software. In some rare cases you may have to re-download this software from the Wii Shop Channel, but there is no cost to doing so.

maybe they will adjust the potentiometer during the cleaning for optimum performance.
My drive even reads DVD+R DL, so no problems here ^^

How do i know when my wii has a dirrty laser?
It creates a save game but then a white screen appears with the message; disc cannot read blablabla.
I think this is a burn fault and not a dirrty laser problem for me, is this right?

Try to get a retail one to test, and you'll know for sure

I already got 4 people back with brawl at work today, the game didn't start they said. 2 wii's weren't chipped, 2 were. 1 of the chipped wii's got the message, unable to read disc, so I told him that he should upgrade his chip to play, the other one already updated his chip, but got a white with green letter error screen, saying that he should look in the wii manual for further information.
To him I said. I'm sorry, there is nothing I can do about this, because you chipped your wii and so you've lost your warrenty, so you won't be able to play this game. He was mad at me, but, what could I else do about it?

It always amazes me how honest people are that chip the consoles.
