I thought I would create a new thread for this problem since more people will see this.
I'm on an HDTV. So, when playing SNES games on it without any video option from the emulator turned on, the video looks really pixelated and stretched. But, when I use the Filtered option, with combination of an HQ2x setting, the video looks absolutely beautiful. It smooths everything out for use on an HDTV.
But...when using the hq2x option(any of the hq2x' s, regular, smooth, or bold), some games the screen becomes garbled. For example, with Secret of Mana(this also happens in Seiken Denetsu 3, and a few others I can't seem to remember right now), the game performs perfectly with the Filtered option on, and an hq2x option enabled. But, when I go into ring menu, the screen becomes garbled. The only way to fix it is to turn off the hq2x setting, the screen then goes back to normal.
So I either have to play without an hq2x option on(which again, combined with the filtered option it makes the screen look beautiful, the games still look a lot better with only the filtered option on, but one of the hq2x options really make the games look that much better), or play with hq2x on, but go into the emulators menu and turn it off everytime I go into the ring menu. Which is quite a pain.
Does anyone know a way around this? Is there any way I can keep the hq2x option in these games but get around the garbled screen when going into the menu? Or is this just a bug in the emulator that needs to be fixed?
Thanks.
