We've almost got everything in place for new release fo SoftMii. I've been making good progress with theming the last couple days so here is a small sampler....

These are files for NTSC so if you want to use them on PAL you can extract them and rebuild with u8tool on PAL machine.

As always you can find us in #softmii on EFNET irc.

First the Peach Theme.... I'll be adding drop shadow to it and cleaning it up a bit for the 2.0 release.... Your welcome to modify it to your heart's content.

Nice job Jizmo.
Did you managed to fix the blurry effect that comes most of the time while theming the SystemMenu?

By the way, i find the Mario theme much better:

Yes, if somebody with a MediaFire or RapidShare account could re-up to perm links for these as I don't have accounts and these are only 10 download limit links.

The help would be appreciated.

I don't know of anybody solving the blur/distortion that occurs when trying to edit most of the System Menu. It could be a packing problem but I'm clueless as to how to get it right. If you find out be sure and let me know.

DigityDogs has been busy with a new job i believe. I've been doing all the softmii csm work since he stared new job and working on CSSM with Forsaekn.

I've only been playing with the cursors for a day so they will improve throughout the week im sure.

People interested in contributing or helping out can figure out where to find us on EFNET.

Though I really don't think Preloader being out makes it OK to mess with the system menu and post illegal .app files (I don't know if that's exactly what you're doing, but 99% yes), make a Tool themed one.

Lol I could imagine a systemmenu with hammers and wrenches. But I think I'll wait on the Mario theme.

If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

@BigOnYa, i only have like 1 or 2 mb sec

Did you feed the hamster in your internet router? It prob died and is running slow now.

@BigOnYa, why did you start saying my pc has a hamster in the first place?

Its actua!ly just a old joke, meaning its slow. Was just kidding around with you.

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

also @BigOnYa im making some progress on my gdevelop project, implemented various mechanics

They went all in on streaming, should have been more of a hybrid approach

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
