We have a brand that can play on a worldwide basis, young and old, male and female
This is what I don't get. I mean, there is a huge lack of kid games for the PS3 that's actually decent, just LittleBigPlanet and Katamriand that's basically it. Mostly M titles. The PS3 and PSP are pretty complicated for kids.
While Wii and the DS is perfect for kids. Simple, lot's of games. Perfect for average and kid people. The only advantage Sony has right now is having hardcore games for older people but it's still a lot more fun for all ages to have a Wii or DS.
You can say that the DS and Wii aren't for hardcore gamers, but for two reasons, you'd be wrong. For one thing, one has to look at the definition of "hardcore" for gaming. Being a "hardcore" gamer doesn't mean you play most FPS and kill everything with guns/swords/bombs/knives/a stick. There's not really a universal definition for "hardcore gamer". Besides, saying the Wii and the DS(i) is good for kids is kindof a misstatement.
The Wii is not "for kids", being that the controls are actually new and take both learning them and getting used to them. The DS is okay for kids, but I'd say just give them a GBA/GBASP and be done with it. I've seen a lot of little kids break their DS because of rage and stabbing the touchscreen, or throwing the DS(GBA/GBASP were surprisingly durable...), or whatever. Sony has hardcore games, but so do the Wii and the DS. Every console right now has at least a free hardcore games. Maybe the DS doesn't have many FPS, but that doesn't make a hardcore game.
