So I've been using my modded V2 mariko switch with a hwfly chip, that has the sx firmware on it. When the other day it Suddenly won't read any SD cards anymore when booting. I've tried several to no avail.

So I've ordered a new sd card reader, and while waiting for it, it would boot again to Hekate and into cfw without any issues. I could reboot my switch without any issues for a couple of days, even play for hours without issues, and now it does the same thing.

After replacing the reader, the issue is still the same, so I'm really confused what it going on.
I don't think the chip is the issue, as my switch boots to the boot.dat error screen fine.

The connector port is looking perfectly fine. Is there anything else I can take a look at?

Boot.dat only mean the chip is working, so your problem is your SD card flex if there is no issue with the connector on the motherboard to the SD card flex.

This is so weird. I replaced the reader with the new again. Still no boot. But after pushing a little harder on the connector part, it boots again.

I'm afraid it's only temporary. But at least it works again

Yeah it was a temporary fix. It still does it. Though I can get it to boot if I try enough times.

I found this thread, which sounds a lot like my issue:

So I'm at the point now, as long i don't reboot it isn't much of an issue. If it ends with it will never boot, or switch says the card was ejected, I will try to replace it.

@SylverReZ if you could find a v5 DS ML you would have the best of both worlds since the v5 units had the same backlight brightness levels as the DS Lite unlockable with flashme

A woman with no arms and no legs was sitting on a beach. A man comes along and the woman says, "I've never been hugged before." So the man feels bad and hugs her. She says "Well i've also never been kissed before." So he gives her a kiss on the cheek. She says "Well I've also never been fucked before." So the man picks her up, and throws her in the ocean and says "Now you're fucked."

anyways, we need to re-normalize physical media

if i didn't want my games to be permanent, then i'd rent them

Agreed, that why I try to buy all my games on disc, Xbox anyways. Switch games (which I pirate tbh) don't matter much, I stay offline 24/7 anyways.

@BakerMan - you can still "own" digital media, arguably easier and better than physical since you can make copies and backups, as much as you like.

    The issue is DRM

  • cearp @ cearp:
You can buy drm free games / music / ebooks, and if you keep backups of your data (like documents and family photos etc), then you shouldn't lose the game. but with a disk, your toddler could put it in the toaster and there goes your $60

    :rofl2:

still, I agree physical media is nice to have. just pointing out the issue is drm

i like physical media because it actually feels like you own it. thats why i plan on burning music to cds

It's nice to not have to have a lot of physical things though, saves space

@rqkaiju2, Physical media is a great source for archiving your data, none of that cloud storage shiz.
