That's fair do. I see a lot of people defend this term back-and-forth, calling it transphobic and whatnot. But you call yourself whoever you want to be, don't let anybody bother you for that.

I would consider anything transphobic if it’s said to a trans person as an expressed insult. Otherwise I think it’s narcissistic to assume it’s inherently transphobic because it can be used as such. This is to say that anything can be transphobic if used with transphobia in mind but that doesn’t mean it inherently is transphobic.
