'The Legend of Zelda' LEGO set reportedly in development

zelda.png

After rejecting Zelda-themed LEGO set ideas and banning such submissions on LEGO Ideas due to licence conflict, such an officially-licensed might be in the works. According to a report by prominent LEGO news leaker Promobricks, a number of unannounced LEGO sets are in development, including from the The Legend of Zelda franchise. The set is alledgedly a 2-in-1 set based on a setting featuring the Great Deku Tree and characters/pieces to build a setting based on either Ocarina of Time or Breath of the Wild.

The reported leaks come from participants of a paid survey which involved showing them LEGO sets and how much they are willing to pay for them. Based on a Google Translate of the German-language website Promobricks, the options were: Parts: 1920, Price range: $ 200 to $ 325, Most likely price: $ 250.

The images from said survey have found its way on Reddit and you can see them below:

While these news should be taken with a pinch of salt, would you be interested in such a LEGO set? If so, how much would you be willing to pay to purchase it?

That's not a whole lot. Folks who buy games, Lego, or whatever as an investment are gambling their money just as Crypto is gambling in itself.

There's no method to "get rich quick," it takes time.
The best method to get rich quick is to convince someone else they can get rich quick

Step 1: record a "How to make your first million" webinar
Step 2: charge $100 for access
Step 3: sell it to 10,000 people on Facebook.

OoT and BotW, good choices. Deku Tree, also a good choice. Not as unique as the Mario sets (since those had "gameplay" features), but still, pretty cool.
Be nice if they expanded it with addons to build the entire Kokiri Forest. Just seems like something is missing.
The OoT one looks really cool

I would buy Lego sets if they were reasonably priced $20-40

But a couple hundred for mold injected plastic is ridiculous and I honestly don't understand how they continue to sell at that ridiculous premium
Lego sets like these include a lot of custom parts, and custom injection molding is expensive. Of course you also pay a premium for the branding (in this case both Lego and Nintendo branding), that's sadly just how capitalism works.
I love Lego bricks and sets. But the characters, ugh, disgusting! For Zelda, they could go with custom ones like the mario sets (not awesome, but better than that hepatitis yellow disgusting things that are the classic dolls).
Well, they don't look yellow to me.
I think if they used custom figures, to keep the scale correct they would have to make the Deku Tree so much bigger, that it would just be too big and expensive.

Feel the same about this as all Lego "themed sets" ... Lego should be given to kids in bulk buckets of random pieces, along with one or two flat panels for a base to build on. The value of Lego is in giving a child a blank canvas on which they can apply their imagination. These themed sets, i.e. Star Wars and etc., are of very little worth besides a one-time experience in following a set of instructions. Boring.

I agree, playing with a big box of Legos was a lot of fun as a kid

I think for a lot of kids Minecraft sorta took that over

Oh just wait. The spin-off kits. The great fairy something. Horse stable. Master cycle driving course set. Each dungeon, from the first LoZ, having their own set. It’s a collection. Bokogoblins, grumble grumble guy, Devine Beast sets. Oh, this is just the beginning of a new cow to milk.

While that would be neat, I would be a little upset if Nintendo effectively made $300 dlc

I would have liked to know at least how tall it was. If it could be a large display piece on the shelf next to my tv I might actually consider it. I would have fun building it for sure. I haven't built a lego set in 25 years, but my wife and I are playing through BOTW before the new game comes out. We are fans and the lego set would be fun. The Lego Star Wars R2D2 has 2300 parts for $239 and is 13 inches tall. The tree might be taller but less parts and more price.
