It doesn't cause any problems swithching off by the power button on the Wii unless your updating or doing something dangerous on the NAND

Why? Preloader 0.29 can be installed on 4.0, and there's no step in this guide that says anything about downgrading........ so why did you ask?

Because I updated through Nintendo. Was told I had to "downgrade" the IOS's.

Then yeah, you gotta run IOS Downgrader, just once, I promise it won't hurt.

I'd like to know the same. How do you remove the .DOL that was installed to NAND? Also if I install another dol does it overwrite the previous dol? Or does it just keep on adding to the NAND?
Use NandClean, as stated in the FAQ. And no, it overwrites rather than keeps adding on.

But can you also list all the risks involved in preloader?
My NAND Corrupts sometimes, i have to use the format feature in the Wii to get it fixed, and it fixes itself no problem, but I know preloader 0.28 would perma-brick your Wii if the format option was used, is it 100% safe to format the flash memory with preloader 0.29?
Hmm, I do not think so. But what are you saying about the NAND corrupted, can share your experience?
Also, does preloader have issues with drive chips? I have a WiiKey 1.9s, it was i think the latest update and that seems to prevent starfall from blocking updates in disc based games so i had to brickblock all my games to block updates back when i actually played games from discs.
It was never that big an issue for me since all the other starfall features work fine, but it is a conflict between starfall and the WiiKey so should I expect Preloader to have such compatibility issues with the wiikey too?
Well, first, boot up the Wiikey config disc and set the update block (Or something like that). That should stop the update. If it does not, disable the setting then try Preloader's hacks. If it still doesn't work, try both
I'm not too keen on installing preloader just yet, my current setup is perfect for me and does everything i want it to including all region wiiware games, plays wii games from a hard drive, runs emulators and roms, i'm on 3.2 and have starfall so all is well for now, but i'd appreciate the info on the stuff i mentioned in case i decide to install preloader at some point.
3.2? That's an aging firmware, why not consider updating to 4.0?

(edit) OK, It seems after reading further that I should downgrade to 3.2. From what I am reading 4.0 loses abilities and gains bugs. I really see no advantage to upgrading. So I guess I need to figure out the downgrade process and then come back here and try this.
Not really, 4.0 doesn't gain bugs, Where the hell did you get that o.O?
Nevertheless, unless you're a heavy Wiiware user, you can skip 4.0. I'm currently on 4.0U and I can say, the SD Channel really is good.
