I only really like Anker USB because it's compatible with hardmods... Otherwise, get anything with a fast write speed, so you can transfer large roms/nand backups quickly.

As far as the SD goes, I think this is the cheapest/best solution: http://www.amazon.com/PNY-128GB-Mic...e=UTF8&qid=1461475092&sr=8-1&keywords=pny+128

8gb or higher is highly recommended, 64gb might cause you to install too many games and never play them, 128gb can give you slower boot times with a9lh installed, and class-10 write speed is pretty good. Keep in mind that N3DS can only use microSD, while O3ds can use both a large sd and a microsd-to-large-sd adaptor
The micro sd card i found laying around my desk is Transcend 32 gb but its CLASS 2. is that too slow to successfully do the whole a9LH process? And if i get a much faster micro sd card later on, can i simply copy contents from my old micro sd card to my new one? ( after i succcessfully installed a9LH)

Considering the process takes 3-5 hours on average, you might have to wait even longer than most people... but I suppose it depends on how long you can endure the process (this includes installing your games, too)

If you're gonna do that, perhaps consider multitasking and do something else while it's doing stuff... Just be careful that you don't accidentally screw up somewhere because of that. Be responsible/reasonable, I guess haha

ahh i found the PNY card you linked but 32gb for only $10 at a store by my home so ill get that. its high performance class 10/uh3, if i get larger than 32, ill have too many games and never finish them

JUST PICKED UP MY CONSOLE I went through initial setup without doing network (had to choose a Nickname to get through the setup) and I see it's running 9.9.0 ! So I'm good to go and start the process?

are there points in the Plaitec guide procedure where you can actually shut down your console completely and take a break? in case I dont have 3-5 hours free in one sitting to do this

i was planning on stopping after part 1 (installing homebrew launcher) and then doing the actual downgrade and all the other parts tomorrow night after work
Can stop after section 1 before 2?(after home brew launcher but before downgrade)

EDIT: Just installed homebrew launcher and menuhax (Section 1), will do the rest tomorrow :)

Lot of good info. I'm in the same boat.

I'm about to get my first 3DS and I haven't been following the scene. Good thing I saw this. I would have bought a cart instead of simply flashing it.

I'll have to read up on some flashing guides soon and make sure the flashing process is easy. I don't really want to have to crack the handheld open and have to hook it up to the computer just to get cfw on it(ala 360).

I would say with a flash card you would be on the safer side.
Nope. With a CFW, you can do everything (except play pirated 3DS games from your cart slot), and whatever Nintendo does can be undone so that is safe.
The only safer thing is that with a flash cart, you can't kill your 3DS with your own mistakes. Don't confuse "easy" with "safe".

That's what I said, "don't confuse easy with safe". Because the risks of bricking with a CFW are close to none if the user doesn't make an error. And you're going to say that it's not "no danger", it's just "almost no danger".
Yeah, but I mean, even just updating your 3DS has a chance of bricking it if you're unlucky so if you really really want absolutely no danger at all, the only safe thing to do is do nothing. No flash cart, no CFW, not turn your 3DS on, nothing.

I rather enjoy a life of taking it easy. I haven't reached that life yet though.

Ah, yes, portrait mode, surely the best way to film a row of people. If only there were some way to fit a wider shot, at the expense of height... if only...

Wish they would let us play the NCAA football 14 on newer xbox, its one of the only games I love and own on disc still, that is not back compatible, bs.

@BigOnYa My dad recently bought a spare Series X off of me, got game pass, and saw Madden '24 on Game Pass, decided to try it out.

...He was a bit taken aback by the 60GB download size. Poor guy's still living in the 90s!

@K3Nv2 He was looking into consoles for his house anyway (for my younger siblings and himself) and I had a spare XSX and Switch I ended up selling him at pretty steep cuts. I would just give them to him, but I did buy them with the intent to sell them... and college is super expensive.
