Do I think we're alone in the universe?
No way... the universe is to big for us to be alone.

Do I think however we been visited by aliens?
Not really. We're apparently very far out on our galaxy's arm, so why would we be visited by aliens. It's like finding a needle in a haystack. Plus our radio signals haven't gone very far space wise for anyone to really to be able to pick it up if they aren't a very close neighbor.

Do I hope we find aliens?
Yes, I'm not one of those "doom and gloom" people that think aliens wanna kill everyone they find.

If aliens turnout to be real and they are here, that means their technology is better than ours. That would be highly disruptive. Also, if they didn't attack instantly, it is a good chance they are at least neutral towards the human race.

Their technology was and is highly disruptive. Some aliens are humans who left Earth the last time it melted. Some of us are descendents from them.

One company announced that a new material "shows promise" but their experiments haven't been reproduced by any other lab, and even their published data doesn't support their claims.

Every now and then some research paper comes out with a "potential" room temperature superconductor, a new material or approach that "shows promise", but so far nothing has come of it. It's a technology that is perpetually around the corner, "any day now".
