RAWR!!

So,it's been awhile since I posted ANYTHING on GBAtemp, I don't know whether it's the fact the pirate in me is dying down or other reasons?

Anyway.

I'm trying to get back into University, being forced to go through UCAS (hate it, hate it, hate it) and I've come down to the point where I need a reference (yay.....3 years out of education and I have to go back to college for my referance greeeaaat

)
and I have to write my personal statement.....I absolutely loathe writing about myself, I simple can't do it (well can't start it).

If I can get it started I can blag my way through the rest of it, but starting it is the hardest part for me.

How do you start a personal statement?

Looking throughout the university website and the UCAS site, some people like starting there's with quotes, some with a joke and others go straight into i but what do I do?

If anyone is interested (you should be

) this is the course I want to do: Interactive Game Design 2011 Entry
Yeah, that's right I'm going into games development.

As some of you from the UK (if you've just applied to University) or abroad and looking at UK universitties should know, the main deadline for applications is today (life issues prevented me from really looking into this until recently) but luckily I have about until the start of May to get this application sent off.

For my Referance I'll be heading over to my old college and getting an old tutor of mine (oh the heart attack he'll have seeing me again

) to sort it out.

But as for my Personal Statement.....HELP!please?
I really don't know how to start it.

I too hate self promotion (a trait that does not help with the whole self employed bit) but consider that most people applying these days are perhaps 18 years old and have had nothing but school their entire lives. The three years you have spent outside should at least fill a couple or paragraphs and after that consider it along the same lines as a cover letter for a CV.

Frankly though for most it is all about the interview.
