If I wanna update to the latest firmware but have games and CFW in my HDD, do I have to reformat/delete? Or can I just update and leave the remains?*

*to keep from being console/account- banned

Delete Everything that is related to homebrew or backups.

Go to 3.55 ofw if your on 3.55 cfw.

Than go to latest OFW.

With tons of topics like this, i'll explain again what everyone else as explained.

Latest firmware = 3.6 (NO CFW)

Lastest CFW = 3.55

Now once you get to 3.6, it's game over (for at least now) for CFW possibility. If you want to get CFW you must be 3.55 or below.

If you want more info about getting CFW there is a sticky with all information you need.

I know all of that. I'm asking if I have to trouble myself of deleting all of it. So far Duskye's the only one who got it. (my post is pretty clear on that too)

We don't know if sony will ban because you didn't delete your homebrew and games before updating to the latest ofw.
But they said they won't ban if the users delete everything and update to 3.60

I think you should delete.
Format is maybe not needed, but without a format Sony can see what you did on your account.
If you format, you will loose your savegames :/

just delete unofficial applications and update, I guess it's the way to do.

just delete any games or anything else you put on your harddrive because after you get rid of the custom firmware with no homebrew file managers they might be stuck there taking up room forever(well you'd have to format).
so far sony does not do anything about hacking there is no risk in just updating straight from custom firmware to 3.6 but i still wouldn't recommend doing anything yet until psn is fully functional incase something changes.

Save games are safe, although you should back them up anyway.
