Hi guys!

Since my usb drive keeps crashing in-game even after hdparm i'm off to buy a seagate external drive so it has the tools to turn OFF sleep mode.
But I was wondering if something like this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Seagate-FreeAgent-...M/ref=de_a_smtd
which has no external power supply would work, anyone had problems with discs that don't have an external power supply but are powered by USB itself?

thanks!

I can confirm as well with my USB powered WD as well that it works fine. The Wii has standard USB slots so any device that can run off of USB on computer should be able to run fine on Wii as well.

what about those Y-USB cabled drives? (that you need two usb slots for full power)
tho perhaps that is only for old usb slots, not the wii's (that 1 would be enough for power)

Marcan used one for his USB loader, it should be fine. Only one USB cable is used for data so as long as the data cord is in the first (IE left) slot it should work perfectly fine.

I'm having a 250G Maxtor (30e) within an USB2.0 Advance enclosure (both Sata/Pata 17e) which gives me an upgradable solution for less than 50e...
Why do you guys stick to complicated solution?

I was at Staples the other day and spotted a 1tb drive for around $150. The display was about the size of those WD my passport drives and only had a mini usb port so I assume it's usb powered. Sorry, I don't remember the brand though.

western digital is also fine, but you might have to open the case and use hdparm to turn off sleepmode if you encounter problems (some don't ever crash without doing that)

What's the point of "confirming" games you know will get released. Like Nintendo "confirming" a Zelda sequel. "We can't be sure Nintendo is working on a new Zelda game, or if a new Zelda game will ever be released, until they officially confirm it."
