can someone explain to me how to use this?

You must type in a dos menu :

C:/Documents and Settings\...(Username)...\freethewads.exe title.wad poopie

(Poopie is for set your region.
You must set it into the folder Documents and settings\...(username)...\...

Try that !

how to make a wad region free?

open the RUN option from your start menu...
type CMD in and hit enter....
a DOS like windows should pop up...
drag and drop the FREETHEWADS into the DOS LIKE CMD WINDOW

next hit space bar---> 1 TIME
now drag and drop the .WAD file you want to be region free into the DOS LIKE WINDOW and hit enter while the DOSLIKE WINDOW is your "active window" and it will declare the word
FREEEEEEEEEEEEDDOOOOOMMMMMM to confirm your region patch has worked

works fine on my PAL Wii
patching and installing just took me 30 seconds

Looks like Star Soldier R is the first Wii Ware game that doesn't work on PAL machines

Yeah i installed Star Soldier R yesterday, shame it wont boot as it's the only WiiWare title that i was interested in playing. It's not the only game that doesn't work though. I region free'd Okiraku Ping Pong and that was the same, installed fine but blank screen on boot. PAL ftl

Oh, I thought that ping pong game worked on PAL consoles...too bad

I'm guessing the video mode has to be changed in order for them to work...
If Star Solider R and Okiraku Ping Pong work on NTSC-U consoles, what else would cause the games not to run on PAL consoles other than the video mode?

It's probably just a matter of time until those games work...Let's hope there'll be a fix before May 12th

Heres what I get for every game I try freethewads before:

Installing ticket (Nameofgame) ... OK!
Installing title (Nameofgame) Error! (ret = -2011)
Removing tickets... OK!

ERROR: Could not install WAD! (ret = -2011)

I can install these games with no prob without freethewads, but they give me an error if I try to run them since im on a japanse console.

Could someone out there have the answer?

I tried out making the name only 1 or 2 characters long and still no go

Same error. At the same time I tried a japanese game that was just released and it installed just fine. What a pain

I patched an American Version of FFCC My Life as a King on a PAL Wii and it works fine. Just started playign and there seems to be no real problems.

I done what Raylene2K7 told me to do.

Here it is:

Open the RUN option from your start menu...
Type CMD in and hit enter....
A DOS like windows should pop up...
Drag and drop the FREETHEWADS into the DOS LIKE CMD WINDOW.
Next hit space bar---> 1 TIME!
Now drag and drop the .WAD file you want to be region free into the DOS LIKE WINDOW and hit enter. While the DOSLIKE WINDOW is your "active window" and it will declare the words;
FOR FREEEEEEEEEEEEDDOOOOOMMMMMM to confirm your region patch has worked.

There is a version of FFCC: My life As a King which is region free on the internet already, and it is working. Why not track it down instead of trying to make it region free by yourself?

Hi and sorry if my questions have been answered before but...

1. Can i patch NEO-GEO games and then play them on a PAL Wii?
2. I also have Castlevania Rondo of Blood (PCEngine - JPN Rom) and I cant patch it.. Is there a detailed guide on how to patch games with wadtools or something? (I read that freethewads doesnt work with Rondo at least). Is there any alternative (and easier) solution?

Thanks in advance:).

I did that because the one which was already Region Free had less Seeders than the normal, unmodded one. So quicker to download. Now I just need to get Defend Your Castle to work on a PAL Wii...

Oh I also have another question... is there a way to play on a pal wii vc games @ 60 hz?
I think that with freethewads sometimes it works (the display mode remains as it is) and sometimes it forces the roms to run at 50hz.
Is there a way to always get 60hz when converting from ntsc roms to pal (or region-free)?

I have the same problem as well. Shortening the name of my wad to a.wad certainly did not help either. I tried both USA and PAL versions of Opera Internet Channel Wiishop and it doesn't work.

After using freethewads using cmd, my wads cannot be installed by the wad installer too.

Anyone can help?
