Weekend Discussion: What "dream game" would you want to see get announced?

review_banffner_base_new.png

The gaming industry outputs hundreds upon thousands of games each year, with all sorts of different varieties of genres and concepts to choose from. Selections such as AAA major title entries, niche lesser-known games, independent games, and everything in between. With so many options, there's bound to be something that every person can wholeheartedly enjoy. This brings about the question of what game you love the most, and what remake, sequel, revival, or revolutionary creation you'd want to see in the future. In the past few years, we've seen quite the number of hard to believe reveals, ranging from the remake of the beloved Final Fantasy VII, a spiritual successor to Castlevania: SOTN, a sequel to Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption, a long-awaited revival of the Shenmue series, a tease for Elder Scrolls VI, a new title from The Witcher devs: Cyberpunk 2077, Kingdom Hearts III, the announcement of Metroid Prime 4, a new Smash Bros., and so many more.

Does this future lineup sate your desires, or is there something you long to see get announced at one of the many gaming trade shows, like E3, Gamescom, or Tokyo Game Show? Perhaps an ancient JRPG series that you want to finally get a western release? Or maybe something that could no longer be created, due to the developers having shut down, but still a game you'd still want to see happen one day, despite the odds? A franchise buried by years past, ignored by its IP owner? Even worse, a series that was once great, yet fell from grace, that you want to see returned to its former glory?

Even with so many games releasing per year, that doesn't mean the well of ideas is dry, either. There could be an idea for a game that you've had for ages, but has never come close to being a real game. What are your thoughts? Is there a specific idea or game that would make your dreams come true, if it were to be announced? Let us know in the comments below!

IMO i don't understand why so many people are thinking it's one of the best game of the 3DS (if not the best). I'm not Icarus was

Idk why either all Ik is that got a lot of criticism. But I enjoyed it alot it should've gotten a sequel but we never got one.

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

the direct sequel is Super metroid (Snes game). the end screen of metroid 2 is the start screen of metroid 3.
"the last metroid is in captivity, the galaxy is at peace..."
but you lost all your power (no reason), and have to find them again.
At least, in the Prime and other games, previous power are available at the start of sequel but lose them for a reason and has to find them back.

My bad :D

Fun gameplay but the voice acting was pretty terribad. I found myself playing it with the sound off because of how annoying I found it.

Pikmin Trilogy HD for Switch or Pikmin 4 but would prefer the former to have all three Pikmin games on one console that's portable.

-New Mario RPG/Paper Mario in the vein of the best
(WITHOUT Shiggy's "helpful" input, 4/4 failures happened on his word!)

- Chromehounds: 2nd Era Wars
(From Software's phobia of only mild success probably keeps this one from ever happening)

- Half Portal-Life 3: Return of the amazing mute heroes
(As above so below, but for Valve)

- A new single player or co-op Tactical shooter with team equipment tactics
(if Rainbow Six isn't going to fill those shoes, someone should, its a empty lucrative niche, practically easy money!)

- GTA : Sixes
(This time it's a ring of randos in 60s Las Vegas robbing Casinos and fighting the mob, with all the same parody goodness we got from the last few games)

Final Fantasy Tactics Switch! It's been 10 years since Grimoire of the Rift. Would love local multiplayer. A collab with Fire Emblem. Amiibo use (amiibo of Montblanc and his siblings? Final Fantasy characters?) I'd like to see more of the world of Ivalice.

For console/mobile:
  • A proper sequel to Zelda: Four Swords Adventures
I don't know about sequel, but Legend of Zelda: Minish Cap is a prequel to Four Swords Adventures.

While that may be set in the same world I'd be more interested in something that would have the same gameplay with up to 4 players at once.

Increase emulator resolution won't actually improve game graphic, you know at least that much right?
Yes it does. It may not improve the number of polygons in a model, nor will it increase the resolution of textures, but it absolutely will improve the graphics. Most notably you get crisp, solid edges between objects, but things are also just less blocky in general with higher resolutions.

Actually the block is more visible with higher resolutions, that why video render is a thing in emulator.

A Stunt Race FX remake: full screen, 60fps, hell they could even retain the graphics as is.... it seemed a great game, just far too ambitious for the SNES/Super FX.
Staying on SNES, a proper Secret of Mana remake, where they found the extra stuff they were gonna put in the original CD version - I believe Chrono Trigger was the same, another one then! Naturally let's keep the 16bit graphics rather than that abomination we got earlier this year...
A 2D Super Mario game where the devs actually decided 'Hey, let's have a go at trying to beat our older stuff' ;) Get back to using sprites Nintendo!
Rhythm Heaven/Paradise on Switch. A Gold ala the recent 3DS WarioWare would do me: new stuff would be even better.
And 2 thumbs up to whoever said a new Advance Wars! :D

An open world game where Samus Aran is the main char and wears nothing but a swim suit is all I need.

Serious answer: I'd love to see a big and epic Dragon Quest Monsters game with cool graphics, mechanics and soundtrack on the Switch.
Even a port of my favourite Dragon Quest Monsters: Terry's Wonderland 3D with some polished visuals would satisfy me.

Chrono Trigger 2: The Real Sequel
Oh forgot that. +1!

Edit:
Okay I'll do a list as well.
As I'm mainly using my Switch for the small amount of time I have I want the following games to be on the Switch:

  1. Grand Theft Auto: Vice City
  2. Dragon Quest Monsters
  3. Torchlight 2 + Synergies Mod
  4. Torchlight 3
  5. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed I + II
  6. Soul Calibur VI with Link (and Bayonetta?)
  7. Prince of Persia 2: The Shadow and the Flame
  8. Chrono Trigger 2
  9. Blobby Volley 2
  10. Little Fighter or Hero Fighter
  11. Super Mario Galaxy 3
  12. Grand Theft Auto V
  13. Midtown Madness
  14. Need for Speed Underground 2
  15. Banjo Kazooie (or the complete RARE edition)
  16. Sky Force Anniversary
  17. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time HD (just do it, Nintendo!)
  18. Half-Life 3 (okay, I prefer this one on PC obviously)
  19. Super Mario Maker

TriForce Heroes is basically a spiritual successor.

I disagree. In Four Swords Adventures you could play with 2-4 players depending on how many friends you had with you at a time. Triforce Heroes I believe only work with 3 players.
