Not 1TB, but this is what I ordered...

WD My Passport 320GB
Doesn't need an external power source
It's white, matches the Wii
It's small and lightweight

Being able to plug it without messing with a power source is very nice, since I can just disconnect plug into my Linux server and dump ISOs straight to the drive. I was going to go the 1TB route but it's really overkill, I have the 320GB loaded with all the games I like, all the games my son likes and then some and I still have like 160GB free.

i was going to get that one but doesn't it have the spindown issue where you have to crack the thing open to fix it. if so, i would rather just avoid that drive.

I have a 320BG FreeAgent Go and I have had no problems with it all. I changed the power settings via PC and then formatted on the Wii and it's worked like a charm.

Some people might want a bigger drive but to be frank, there are not enough good games to fill 320GB, let alone a TB.

The 500GB happens to be on sale when you buy directly from Seagate's website:

according to the wiki the wd elements 1tb works fine too.
i might go for that.

otherwise it makes me wonder if a 500gb drive is enough....
i got like 200+ games :/

on the other hand a 1tb drive is just 20€ more

Same here. I still havent bought anything yet. Not sure if I should get 500gb passport or a 1tb drive. I don't know if 500gb will be enough.

i had bought the 1.5TB Seagate freeagent xtreme for my media center and wii iso's running thru flatmii, so i figured i'd try it out with the usb loader but to no avail. regardless of Seagate's spindown problem, for this USB loader application, a smaller drive that doesn't require a separate power cable is ideal. most likely looking at the WD essentials...how about the WD elements? any1 having any problems w/ those?

I've been seeing a few external HDDs each day on TechBargains.com. 1TB drives seem to be around $100-120.

I have seen no success in partitions to be honest with you guys , but so far I've made many drives ( 60+ ) all running for a friends and family with no complains the majorities are Seagate Free Agent 1TB and 1.5TB all the success but there is no partition just 1 HDD formatted to WBFS using my tutorial from my signature , so when you buy a new HDD just try the whole thing first and see if that works before making partitions and start complaining of no compatibility

good luck

LOL what games are you planning on putting on an HDD that means 500gb will not enough space?

Obviously this is not something you are going to buy now but I've tried an 80gb Buffalo Ministation drive and have had no success whatsover (there's five hours of my life I'm not getting back!)

I am using a 1TB WD my book essential edition. Works fine if you partition it or even if you don't. I'm using the whole TB for my games. The only problem is that the loader won't rip games to a partition that's over 512 GB. I have to rip the games back to the computer and then add them to the HDD, but it works like a charm.

The tech isn't there for affordable power enough VR headsets at a good market value yet sadly, oculus had a good idea but didn't have enough funds for marketing iirc

The tech to have quality VR goggles at an affordable price is here, but every set has to have 4 additional controllers and be standalone.
