Hacking Whats the #Error 001?

A friend gave me a copy of Brawl but it doesn't work on my Argon 1.8 (Wii 3.2E). Gets to Loading Screen white freeze. He told me he did custom DL break and had the error code 0001 fix on the disc (whatever that means). He said he'll burn me another one without the error 0001.

Do you think that will help, and what does the error 001 fix do? (If it oviously fixes the error, how is it caused?)

Error 001 is an error message the wii displays when a protected game detects it's a backup. This new protection was first introduced in Mario Galaxy and now more games are using it, like SSBB
Most modchips got a firmware update fixing this. If your modchip doesn't have such an update, you can remove the protection by editing the iso file

at the moment, yes that will work. But removing that protection makes use of the trucha exploit. Nintendo fixed this and at a later time (after another update), those edited discs may no longer work.

And has it been confirmed that Nintendo will eventully fix the exploit?
