Gaming Why does my laptop fan speed up when playing Left 4 Dead?

It can play Bioshock, Counter Strike Source, the HL2's, Crysis, Shattered Horizon and stuff without speeding the fan up. Why is it that Left 4 Dead does this? It also speeds up when playing Dead Space.

Any idea why?

EDIT: Also, if I recall correctly, it didn't speed up when playing the Left 4 Dead 2 demo

Probably because they need more CPU power to run, thus the CPU gets warmer.

Must fully load (100% use) the GPU and CPU and cause them to heat up more then the other games.

It'd be worse if it didn't speed up and over heat. Some laptops have a fan speed profile in the system bios which you can set.

I do find it strange a game like crysis wouldn't cause it to increase, yet left 4 dead 2 does. Does it happen all the time? Could do with the length of time the laptop has been powered on for and if it's in a well ventilated area.
