I wouldn't count on them, I would wait for some new flash card to come out.

Most likely they ran into some complications during production (they were blocked with the last update.) And most likely still haven't gotten the save function to work yet.
Just chill, it will be out when it's out, there is no need to rush them.

Is there a source on this supposed "block"?
Seems to me people are merely spouting bs with the intention of seeming knowledgeable.
The flashcart hasn't even been released yet, what are the chances of Nintendo finding out about (and patching) the exploit?

Yes. Every other goddamned thread about the product, where people have posted quotations and even screenshots of the e-mails they've had woth the Gateway team. In the 6.x update thread too, people e-mailed the gateway team and got confirmation that it wasn't working anymore.

This has been discussed as well, and they don't need to. Read up on computer security in general if you want to know more (there's some good books on the subject in general), but basically if you find and fix a security hole, and it happens to be one that somebody was using, bam. It happens all the time. Like, the softmod exploit that yellows8 and neimod were using on the 3DS got blocked in 5.x... without them ever having released it.
