Hi, I just found my Wii, I was testing it around and the av out doesn't work, composite works without any problem, i tried three different cables but i get the same result, the three are working, one I have connected to my Wii U for home theater. Is there any fix for this?

Title says "component" but then here you wrote "composite." So which cable signal doesn't work? The yellow video out or the component (red, green, blue)? I found in my experience that selecting the wrong input on the TV is the most likely culprit. As in, you've connected the Yellow video cable along with the red and white audio cable, but the TV is set to component and not AV(or sometimes labeled just "video" or "composite"). The video will either be missing or hard to see. Or vice versa you've connected the Red Green Blue cables along with the red white audio cables and have selected "AV" on TV instead of 'Component."

It's actually a very easy oversight to make. Oh and selecting 480p or 480i on the Wii will not fix an incorrectly selected video mode on the TV.

Hey guys, i think i might have a similar problem with my wii too. It's just that when I tried to use av cable, it worked but my display on the tv had a visual noise and was glitchy. Still playable aside from the distracting problems.

Also another thing to note, when i tried to use the component cable with my wii, my tv displays no signal. The same thing also happened when I tried to use a component to hdmi converter with the tv / my pc monitor.

Lastly i tried to do this exact workaround from the gamefaq (sorry I couldn't give the links due to anti spam error) :

"Do you still have access to the SDTV or does your HDTV have composite inputs?"

Try this:

- turn off wii
- connect component cables to wii
- connect GREEN component cable end to COMPOSITE video input
- turn on wii, you should see the menu in black and white
- go to wii setup menu and now you can select EDTV/HDTV mode, as soon as you do, the screen will go blank.
- unplug from COMPOSITE video input and plug into appropriate COMPONENT and audio inputs on your HDTV.
- you should now see your wii menu in 480p
-enjoy!

I managed to do that, but the same error of "no signal" is showing for me only for the component cables. Does anyone know what is the solution to my problem?

P/S : sorry for my broken english because i'm

I have a similar issue. When I plug in a Wii AV it only shows the sound but not picture. And when I use any other AV cable, it will have similar but off-looking picture. When I plug in a component cable or Wii AV to HDMI adapter with a HDMI cable in that, the picture is either black and white, or way off picture that’s too bright. How can I fix the issue. Please help.

Your personal problem sounds like Capacitor failure.
Open up your console, look for Surface Mounted Capacitors near the AV Input on the board, and replace all of them.

for it to work, insert red into red, white into white, and yellow into blue. av didn't work for mine but i just discovered this.

try connecting yellow to the blue port. but red and white can remain in their usual spots.

I had a weird thought, Sega with the Saturn it was a train wreck a pile of chips, but it does kind of fit the design philosophy of Sega at the time.... The Genesis/Sega CD/32X machine was probably loads of fun to program for
