WiiKey update v1.9b released!
revolution modrobert writes "The long-awaited WiiKey firmware update has finally been released. EurAsia members can download here. The official v1.9b changelog as follows: Audiofix fixed o_0. Dual layer support (no bitsetting required). Improved media support (all supported chipsets). Full Gamecube regionfree (no-swap/video setup). Various 'smaller' improvements/fixes. Workaround for FW 3.0 gameid limitation (existing wkb 1.2 discs will boot again). 'On the fly' settings for gc games (by holding buttons). Toggle audiofix, diskspeed, force NTSC/PAL. It will be fun to see if the 'dynamic reviews' out there gets a positive score update or if we are headed for another flamewar.

[08-09-03] Wiikey update 1.9b

A leaked version of the wiikey firmware update is available on several websites. While the leaked firmware is indeed working and has all of the announced features, it has not yet been fully tested and does not come with the configuration and recovery discs. A full version will be available from wiikey.cn very soon.

| Boots GC imports directly using a small apploader hook to setup Â| Â
| the correct video mode. To enable this feature use the new    | Â
| config disc (1.3). Make sure you also enable the basic region  Â| Â
| feature, thats what gets you through the wii menu in the first  | Â
| place. Unlike a real GC, the NTSC Wii doesnt output PAL50. That Â| Â
| means the game may run but theres no picture. PAL60 games will  | Â
| work, however you need to enable it. The common way to bring up Â| Â
| the "use PAL60?" dialog on a game is to hold B while booting. Â Â| Â
| Forcing to NTSC may work as well. PAL consoles output NTSC just Â| Â

Some users already upgraded theirs modchips and everything seems to be running smooth. But since it's a non-official release there's no recover and setup disc yet.
