I've been trying to use wud2app, and I have both .key files that I made in hxd. But it keeps telling me that the common key is the wrong size. Its a 16kb hex .key files, I'm not quite sure what else it could want. So any suggestions would be helpful, or if someone could send me a common.key file that is known to work that would be great.

Edit: I mean't to say 16 bytes not 16 kb

You can use wudd to dump the common.key file from your console ;)
For wudd and wudump you need to actually dump a disc for it to give you the common key, but unfortunately I bought this wii u with a broken drive because it is one of the white premium sets that were pretty rare. So I can't use either wudd or wudump to dump the file unless you know a trick to dump just the common key without actually dumping a disc

Kinda surprised that we still get questions about the Common Key, when you can Google it and immediately copy it from the first result.
Common key is the same. Google it. Can't share it.
The problem isn't that I don't have the common key or know what it is, the problem is that wud2app says its too long. no amount of googling would turn up a common.key file, leaving only to make one in a hex editor which I have tried, or dumping one which is something I can't do.

Make sure that there's no spaces, or extra lines. Make extra sure that you have the right key, because oftentimes people mix them up. Sometimes Hex / Text editors will have an option enabled by default to pad the file with an extra line upon saving, make sure that's off.

Also, why may I ask are you trying to use wud2app? If it's to install a game then there are easier alternatives and methods to do so. If it's to decrypt the game's content, there's also easier ways of doing so.

I wonder if that was the point of game streaming
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
    But it's a dead end
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@Psionic Roshambo, people who cant download it can still play the game
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
If your internet speeds are fast enough. Streaming 4k takes alot. I used to only have 20mb sec, and 4k struggled. Now I have 300mb sec and 4k plays fine.

I think Game streaming should work like this.... Local Hardware able the run the game fine, game engine and common assets stored locally, all FMV and music and textures could be streaming

Or free government supplied high speed internet be nice also. Like Obama care. Xdqwerty that's cool, its time consuming but rewarding once done or playable, to see what you've made from scratch. Animations take forever, but worth it.

    @BigOnYa,
and the visual aspect of the game is quite crude (the sprite that looks best is that of the protagonist just because he is a stickman with sunglasses)

There is a bullets behaviour you assign to your character, that makes the code easier, under "behaviours"
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
i meant that when the character is pointing to the right, the bullets spawn where they should, but when he is on the right, they move to the right but the spawn point is incorrect
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Itch.io has lots of free assets also. Under the bullets behavior tab, there is a "rotate bullets" option, can try that. Or in the code can try
    - fire bullet Player.X(PlayerDirection)

That's cool tho, I'm proud of you going back to it, not giving up. It is difficult at first to learn, but fun once you get the hang of it. I think I've watched every tutorial video there is, but I still struggle sometimes to get stuff to work right. But gotta keep trying dif things, and eventually you will get it right.
