Would you recommend it to a dude who hasn't played the original two and knows literally nothing 'bout the series? :V

Yes.
It stands lose from BS1 and BS2.

Not only that but it's set before Rapture anyways so you won't miss a thing of the series ;p

It really is ;o
Skyline combat is incredible.
You can knock your opponents off off platforms and from the rails.
With the skyhook you can execute enemies in the most brutal ways imaginable.
Elizabeth helps you get health and ammo, she can open "tears" to call in friendly machines or stacks of ammo/guns/health.

Besides that, the whole city is wonderful to see and explore ;3

If you like"diesel/steampunk" like stuff then it's deffo worth getting!
