Krita's splash screen gets worse

I thought it wouldn't get any worse after the last splash screen in Krita.

Then, I hit up that Terminal to update my copy of Lubuntu from 19.04 to 19.10 (I was expecting to upgrade to 20.04 but I wasn't able to do that.)

I open Krita to remake an character asset from Battle For BFB (or more specifically The Power Of Two, it was PDA) to see this:

It is LEGITIMATELY WORSE than the previous art, and it's even MORE appalling as a professional anime hater. At the very least, the previous art had the mascot robot squirrel look like a robot squirrel!

I also found out that I can disable the splash by using the tag --no-splash, but it's inconvenient to have to open the Terminal every time I want to sketch stuff and hope not to lose my train of thought of what I was drawing in the first place and place more stress on my computer's meager 4GB of DDR3 RAM opening up Chrome and heading back to reddit to remembet what I was trying to draw.

Why would you have to open the terminal to disable the splash screen? It should be possible to add that parameter to the shortcut you're using with the same effect.

Minox, i run Linux, so I can't just change the shortcut of an item on the desktop (in fact, the DE I primarily use, Budgie, doesn't let you put icons on the desktop.), so the only solution is that parameter.

cpg, get out of my blog-

Why would the splash screen bother you that much? It doesn't really seem to affect how the software functions.

Lodad, it's literally the first thing I'm forced to see when booting up Krita, and as much as I hate the splash screen, everything else is fine and it's my daily driver art program after not being able to get to grips with Pinta and losing access to modern versions of Paint.net by switching to Linux. To minox, sure it's possible, but as I said, it's inconvenient as hecc.
As for bepis, I don't have budgie plank, only the budgie PANEL, which is different, according to this article: https://discourse.ubuntubudgie.org/t/put-icons-on-budgie-panel/447

I personally hate Krita too.
It's a piece of shit just like GIMP and it's newer stable builds.
Use Sketchbook instead mother fucker. It's good shit.

Dang, I just recently started trying Krita out and I really like its brushes and interface. Is Sketchbook really that much better (and free)?

I don't know how and if you can edit the application menu in your DE but in KDE I can change the commands for programs with kmenuedit, putting an alias command in your bashrc or whatever your shell has would work too when starting it in command line

cool story, extrasklep. now I just gotta sign into all of my chrome stuff again in kde plasma 5 since I have that installed alongside budgie

Google isn't very helpful anymore, you get recommended loads of crap that doesn't solve the thing that you're looking for.
    +1

@K3Nv2, afaik yeah but I also don't think that it runs on home grade routers like openwrt/dd-wrt does. OPNsense runs on full-on x86 PC hardware
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Sadly openwrt seems to be dying for support unless it's just. Anew name
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Like made by the same devs different architecture
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
idk, I mean it had a new release back in March https://github.com/openwrt/openwrt/releases
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
Not sure how recent hardware it supports though
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I mean for 1st party routers iirc linksys use to support it
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
ahhhh that I have no idea
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
    pretty cool though if so
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Or from what ive heard ways to set custom imgs for 1st party routers so locked down now days
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
OPNsense VM and specs and specs of system it's running on. https://imgur.com/a/S9wgGUD
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I've turned more features on in OPNsense lately and it's getting kind of high on RAM usage, I see. Probably bump that up to 4GB soon
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I wanna make a 8core router with support for 20gbps doesn't even sound that silly lol
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
I only have 1 gig internet but internally I have 10 gig connectivity for everything on my lan lol
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
fiber connection from my desktop PC back to my core network switch
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
2 port HPE SFP+ PCIE NIC in my desktop and all of my servers
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
    silly shit
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
eventually this desktop is going to act as a server too, just for the hell of it. Because this PC is WAY fucking overkill for how little I use it.
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
And once I do that, my desktop OS that I interact with is just going to be a virtual machine and use GPU passthrough to connect everything
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
    Send it to me ffs
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
No because it's my desktop lol
  • Sicklyboy @ Sicklyboy:
The most use this PC is getting right now is 979 Chrome tabs open right now
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
This is my desktop there are many like it but it is mine alone
