First blog post (Pokemon Sun/X)

So apparently GBATemp got blogs... nice :)

I hope this will be a great way to get in touch with others.

I think I will be sharing my games progress here and whatnot
I'm currently playing Pokemon Sun and X. In Sun I'm in the middle of the first trial, in X I just beat the first gym! :D

Here are my teams:

Yeah, think I skipped those. I was busy with Omega Ruby and then with Ultra Moon
Alas 3DS died in 2018 and I think there's no FreeShop anymore.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ oh well.

Have fun with your games. @Manuelasparkles could help you knowing more about the game.

Hi there, my friend! Say, you’ve got Pokémon X and Pokémon sun on your 3DS. Cool. Maybe I can help you with your games sometimes.

I actually played these before on my 3DS (now I use Citra emulator for PC) so I don't think I will need help besides some pokemon recommendations  I don't know what's trendy nowadays

X and Y...they could've been good games that I had decent memories of - could have, if they didn't weaken moves like Surf, Ice Beam, Thunder, Fire Blast, Leaf Storm and Draco Meteor for no reason; if they didn't release immediately after the smorgasbord of content known as Black/White 2, whilst having very little content themselves; if they didn't nerf Steel for no reason; if the Friend Safari was so utterly dependent on having a bunch of Friend Codes who actually played and finished the game, disallowed visiting your own Safari, and the type and contents of each person's Safari being completely up to luck.

If they didn't implement Sky Battles for the one and only time, thereby forcing Levitate and select Flying-type models to remain perpetually airborne for not only X & Y but all future games even after Sky Battles were retired. If they didn't make the local Battle Tower-equivalent overly feminine and then force it into Hoenn which already had its own Tower in the original Ruby/Sapphire. If they didn't immediately scrap global animated Trainer sprites, which were only just added to Black/White 2 after years of only "important" Trainers having this nice flourish.

X and Y could have been good games, if they bothered to give the Elite 4 and Champion improved rematch teams, like had become standard at that point; instead, this was relegated to the Battle Chateau, which has a random assortment of Trainers and requires battling weaker Trainers to advance your ranking. If the local Champion gave a shit about the local Evil Team, or the player yourself (like the previous female Champions, Cynthia and Iris, Diantha doesn't do much at all; the male Champions - "Gary"/Blue, Lance, Alder - they actually did stuff); instead, Diantha never once fights Team Flare nor bothers to remember the player's name, only really meeting once before the Pokémon League battle.

If they bothered to give much focus to Mega Evolution, despite the supposed importance of this brand-new mechanic - instead, most of the Mega Stones are relegated to postgame, and even then there's version-exclusive Stones and they're only obtainable during a one-hour window in the evening, in obscure locations.
During the main game, you have access to the Kanto Starter Stones, Gengar, Aerodactyl, Ampharos, Gardevoir (via in-game trade), Lucario and Abomasnow - so 10 out of 30, and even then three of those (Blaziken and Latis) were event-only prior to ORAS, so 10/27. Whoopee, what a fantastic introduction.

Really, the largest issue is that X and Y immediately followed Black/White 2, so the disappointment felt by the lack of content and unwarranted move nerf (which is blatantly obvious since move power is specifically listed) was particularly sharply felt, going from a very high point to a very low pit - that just made all the other things just stand out and hurt more, y'know?

I truly, sincerely hope you manage to have fun with X, when I couldn't and cannot.

Eeh, XY aren't that bad of the games. My biggest issue with those is the way you control your character - it was done way better in SuMo. Other than that it brings a lot of fun and to be fair I barely care for the post-game content unless it's something that *truly* catches my attention. After story mode I tend to go and wonder trade the shit out of pokes, which sadly is something I can't do on Citra :(

    Also somebody is remaking it

@SylverReZ, the other game where I found newgrounds is new york shark

Spoke to Tom Fulp the other day, if he can find his old Newgrounds site content like the mini Flash animations from the 2000's that played on the portal.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
So far no response, but he did say that he'll find them. Wayback Machine doesn't have em.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, atleast the 1999 versión of pico's school is avaliable (the difference between it, the 2006 versión and the 2016 versión is that the speed of the game depends of the speed of your computer and that it had the og soundtrack)
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Another being Pico VS Bear, the original 1999 version before Jim Henson filed a DMCA takedown.
    +1
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
The 2006 versión was made when the flash portal was made
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Many people thought it was lost, but was discovered that he hid it on the same page.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, although the "secrets" system where the game was has been removed. Also pico vs uberkids had a netplay versión that was shutdown, although the swf file has been found
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Nope. There are two download buttons on the same page, where you can download the original under a file called "bear.exe". "bear2.exe", however, is the updated game in a Flash projector. P.s. this was on the archived Pico page from 2000.
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, That's been there for a long time, too. People who search for lost media don't look hard enough lmao.

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, also the pico 2 demos used to be only for the newgrounds patrons but they are on internet archive too (https://archive.org/download/picos_school_2)

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
Iirc the demos were removed from newgrounds in 2022
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, or well only the demo with mindchamber's style was on newgrounds

  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
Fun fact @SylverReZ: iirc one of the goals on the fnf Kickstarter stated that pico 2 would be finished but the Kickstarter didnt get enough money for that goal to be fullfiled
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, FNF sucks, their community is toxic as hell.
  • The Real Jdbye @ The Real Jdbye:
@SylverReZ its a single player game
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@The Real Jdbye, Yea but it has a shitton of mods with their own songs and stuff
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@The Real Jdbye, and quite a lot of people involved in those mods get cancelled
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Newgrounds wasn't the birth of FNF; rather, it was games where you beat up celebrities and parodies.
