Bibleman

I remember a while back I was flipping through channels via the on-screen guide (you know, the little pop-up guide?) and I saw on the Christian channel a kids show (because it was light blue) called Bibleman. It looked so stupid that I turned to the channel and started laughing my ass off. This is what I found:

You think that's bad? He has a lightsaber too.

You think that's even badder? He's acted and voiced by Willie Aames. You know, the guy from Eight is Enough and Charles in Charge? Yeah, that guy. He dresses in tight spandex and fights satanic villians with a bible and a lightsaber. On the Bible Channel.

I don't know why at one time he's purple and one time he's gold. I guess they thought purple was a little too "queer" for Bibleman, as if a six pack, muscles, and tight spandex wasn't enough.

I don't know if he has Holy Water Grenades or the Christ-o-cycle. I only saw him briefly, the rest of the time my eyes were tearing up from laughter.

IT'S BIBLEMAN!

It's like they hired the special effects director for Land of the Lost and said "Here's today's Bibleman".

No joke, I could probably make the same (if not better) quality TV show with a children's Halloween costume, Adobe Premiere Pro (a video editor), and the green screen in my TV studio.

kinda blasphemy on a christian channel, cool:.
aren't christians against violence:.
no really^^
what do he use his saber for?
posing and swinging around in the air while teasing his enemies with biblic verses to death? xd

Christians are against violence, unless it involves killing Jews, gays, Muslims, athiests, agnostics, Buddhists, Barack Obama, and pretty much any non-Christians.

His saber is so he can anal rape small children fight demons, I think.

blackdragonbahamut I will go one better; in that the bible was referred to as the word of the Abramic god in which case it would appear to espouse a literal interpretation of the bible which my years religion baiting would have me believe is the issue quickest to divide factions.

You do not know how hard it is for me to resist taking the piss out of "shield of faith" either. I will have to settle for laughing at the use of an airstream caravan instead.

For some reason that stop motion at the end reminded me of Tetsuo- iron man.

The theme song also appeared to want to break out into a tribute ripoff of the spiderman theme at any second. If I were to be less lazy I might also redub it to the 1960's batman theme to that (for those who just want to hear it again http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FXMB5KNYgMw&fmt=18 and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qP-NglUeZU&fmt=18 those who had not heard it I suggest you do not make such things known around here).

The were also about to sent into a sport match to stop conflict....... same idea as just playing for fun?

"purple was a little too "queer""- are these people disparaging the phantom now?
blow two did that woman in the purple jumpsuit (not quite tight enough for me to call that) remind anyone of April O'Neil from the turtles?
Blow three- lasso belt of truth?.... oh dear.

Anyhow I have just raised the hackles of the religious types, film buffs, copyright types, "proud dads" and comic book types which my Venn diagram of groups of people that exist tells me is 100% of the population.

What do you expect? When you're making a super hero based off Christianity, you aren't exactly gonna be innovative. He's one part Star Wars, one part Spiderman, and one part Batman, maybe with a hint of Iron Man and lemon zest.

Man, you read too many comic books :P

I just don't expect him to be in the Justice League any time soon.

Fiction and Bible does not mix; why are they trying to make the Bible look 'cool'

The bible is real there are a few people who can understand it. I mean have anyone read the Book of Matthew before? When Jesus was talking in parables and some of those parables are WAY beyond our comprehension?

Actually I do not really read comics (if one is floating around on the floor I will indulge but I have never sought out a comic), 90's cartoons on the other hand.....

@Canonbeat234 look up the phrase "America's favorite work of fiction".

What?

I actually remember having to watch some horrible Bibleman movie in church close to a decade ago. It was completely horrible, and I think he even had a Robin-esque sidekick, too. There are still mental scars left from it.

Was he the guy with the big green dildos blades in the video I posted?

Because going to church for a boring amount of hours doesn't exaclty "recruit" kids for Christianity. Superheroes with lightsabers, on the other hand...

Last time I checked, the Bible was fiction. Oh snap! Religious debate! Run for the hills!

And nothing in the Bible is beyond the comprehension of greedy executives at the Bible Channel. I mean, how do you think Pat Robertson is actually successful? Not from "knowing the Bible" but from "interpreting it into a way that would make the dough roll in".

EDIT: My bad, double posts.

That stopped me for a minute as well.

I'm actually surprised to see there is a Bibleman. After having thousands of people misread/mispronounce my username....
I've seen people online called Bibleman (and fought them repeatedly), but wow...an Action Figure? Damn, I need a Blebleman action figure!
