If I had $20 for everytime someone misused this word I'd be swimming in cash.

You don't HAVE to have them bookmarked. This is just a list of links I find useful. I'm sure you've seen other "____ you have to ____" lists on other websites.

People are taking the title of this thread way too literally.

Why should everyone have these sites bookmarked? Most of them only appeal to a very specific interest.

Read the post above Syko5150's.

I love GBAtemp but I'm starting to question the intelligence of some of its members.

A word filter for the image board ********* that replaces the word wapanese. Originates arbitrarily from a Perry Bible Fellowship comic strip wherein a man was paddled by a crowd chanting "Weeaboo! Weeaboo!"
“Wapanese” are decidedly caucasian individuals who, by means of thoroughly warped postmodern acculturation processes, have come to the decision that it is in their best interest to act as if they were denizens of the nation of Japan.
Looks like some proper use to me.

Unless of course, you meant weeaboo in the PBF sense, in which case, you are a faggot for wanting to paddle Shakraka's ass.

That is the proper definition but he's still using the word incorrectly. Liking things that are made in Japan does not make you a weeaboo or wapanese. Abandoning your own culture and trying to become (for lack of a better word) Japanese would make you a weeaboo. That's the part where people always trip up.

Liking things from Japan =/= Wapanese.

I like anime, manga, tokusatsu and all that other stuff but I also like Batman,Spiderman,Jazz,Hip Hop,Harry Potter,Willy Wonka among other things of western origin.

I also grew up watching badly dubbed Chinese movies. So I have a bit of a love for martial arts.

Does that mean I want to be Chinese?

If you really want to see what a weeaboo is I can show you videos that would make you sick to your stomach with anger.
1. Mild to extreme obsession with Japanese culture (Especially to select aspects of society with out any regard to history and facts about the society as a whole)

2. Lack of respect to others personal space

3. Emulating Japanese culture without any regard to cultural customs and etiquette

4. Delusional thinking or sense of grandeur

5. Apparent social problems and or awkwardness

6. Hyperness and impulsivity

7. Emulating speech written in online fan fics, comics, anime, TV shows, and sound effects vocally.

8. Obsession with cats, foxes, dogs, other animals (They also maybe a furry).

9. Out right denial of facts when it comes to Japanese history and Japanese foreign relations.

10.Compulsive typing of "^_^" and other emoticons.

11.Injecting random Japanese buzz words (kawaii, desu ne,neko etc etc) into their sentences
someone sure is getting defensive. as scoobs said, weeaboo was just a filter for wapanese. which in turn is a more crude term for Japanophile. and japanophile is defined as someone who has a strong interest in japanese culture. Not someone who thinks japan is the best place to live, or the japanese culture is the best. thats simply one of the extremes. weeaboo/wapanese just got coined into one of the extremes from people getting too defensive about it.

there's a fine line over a little interest and obsession bro and your bookmarks that you want to share lean a little bit too much towards obsession.

You can like anime/manga, they're just another form of media. doesn't entirely mean you're interested in japan, just another form of media thats been translated for your reading/watching in english.
You can like j-music, but you'd have to have some form of interest in japanese culture to listen to a majority of it.
But suggesting to people they should following a few japanese news sites, a site that shows pictures of average women showing you the time, a japanese trend store, a japanese artists blog, niconico/pixiv and not mentioning Youtube/devart? you'd have to have a pretty strong interest if not obsession in japan/japanese culture.

I agree with CyrusBlue on this one. Just because you like Japanese media doesn't make you a weeaboo. It's just that we've become so accustomed to labeling people because of very slight influences that now you'll get called a weeaboo for watching anime or something. It's just like in school, where you'll get called goth for wearing a black shirt, etc etc. People just need to grow the fuck up and get over themselves.

Sunday Morning Breakfast Cereal Comics are hilarious. They're not video game related or anything but they're just damn funny.

I'd also put a few video game sites for news. IGN (shit reviews, good news), 1UP (good reviews, some more obscure news), and Gamestop (good news, pretty decent reviews). And there's Nintendolife for Nintendo news.

GBAtemp/FileTrip/ShopTemp are also good :P
