My E3 Hopes From Nintendo (Warning wall of text)

So near and yet so far. This years E3 is looking to be the best from Nintendo in a very long time, Nintendo have a new format to show and usually when they show them for the first time at E3 the put on on hell of a show. As well as that they have openly admitted that they didn't think they did a great show last year, personally I thought it was fine but with competition heating up from the other two fine isn't good enough.

So here is what we know:
Nintendo will have their conference on June 15.
New Zelda will be named, shown and maybe dated.
Wii Vitality Shown in full showcasing games that'll use it.
3DS name confirmed (remember that the statement Ninty issued said it was a temporary name), dated and will be playable at E3 which means there will be games shown.
Games that will be showed: Zelda (of course), Metroid: Other M (release date is now after E3), The Last Story & Xenoblade.

Pikmin 3 is in development, its not known if its in a show able state just yet.

3DS hopes:
Multi touchscreen.
Two screens can be joined to make one big screen.
At least 4GB internal storage with of course the option to use external media.
PSP graphical capabilities at the very least.
Decent web browsing capabilities.
Good media player.

The above two aren't that important to me, I have a good enough phone to do them and I would like Nintendo to still focus on gaming more than anything like they did before but those two above things are a must for a handheld today. People want to be able to do more things and with strong outside competition Nintendo need to know that.

When I first got my DS I wanted a great touchscreen game that showed us that it works well in gaming. Back then Wario Ware was pretty much the only decent thing Nintendo had that use the touchscreen well when others just didn't use it wisely enough. It took up to another year before we had some games that used it well. Pretty much the same with the Wii and that is why many so called core gamers have abandoned the Wii for the likes of 360/PS3. For me Nintendo has always been about great control interface and hopefully they'll have one or two titles that not only show off the motion, graphical and touchscreen capabilities but also something to show that they are not just jumping onto the 3D bandwagon, something to show that having 3D is a plus the gameplay rather than a gimmick. It sounds like the 3DS has been in developers hands for a lot longer than the DS has before its release so I am hoping that the mistakes of the Wii wont happen again and with Nintendo being the top selling console maker developers and publishers will take to the 3DS better than they did to the DS/Wii and so we don't get a shitload of bad ports from Ubisoft.

Wii hopes:
Vitality to be something to give a damn about. I'm hoping the way you use it has changed, I hate the idea of having to hold a nunchuck, Wiimote and also have that thing pinching one of your fingers just so I can say maybe play the latest Zelda and take advantage of all of its features.
WiiWare service to extend the minimum filesize of games, users can play from the SD card, so there is no real excuse. Those who don't want to play from SD are usually gamers who hardly play Wii other then to get it out with friends. Extending the filesize would bring more games to the system (some have had their WiiWare version cancelled because of size issues) and would also help games like Monkey Island to have better quality to them.
Nintendo to start allowing other publishers and developers to update their retail titles, I understand that Nintendo don't want publishers to release games with bugs but in the end the publishers still release titles with bugs. Also Nintendo have fixed certain bugs with one or two of their own games, why not let others?
The ability to also play DSiWare titles, well the ones that can be played with just a Wiimote. Sony allows PSP Mini titles on the PS3, Nintendo could also do that. Also it would improve sales and encourage small lesser funded teams and I would be able to play Shantae DS. :P

A revamp in the Virtual Console system. I understand that Nintendo like having their old games to be as they were intended on other consoles but they are still using emulation and so I still get a emulation feel. It would be nice if they took the same approach as other devs did on the 360/PS3 concerning their retro titles. Maybe have two versions of a retro release? For example one version of Mario Kart that is exactly how it is on the SNES and then for maybe for some points more have a version that not only has the original version but also upgraded so that you can race fullscreen (without the track map taking half of the view) and also allow online leader boards and online play.

As well as that Nintendo could also introduce this system for DSi & 3DS and also allow you to once you have bought a game, to be able to play it on DSi or 3DS if you wish...I don't see that happening to be honest but it would make us really happy to not HAVE to re-buy games again just because our console broke, got stolen or whatever else. Its such a shitty thing for Nintendo to do to not let DSi owners transfer their downloadable titles if they decided to get a DSiXL. I understand that they are worried about piracy but there are surely systems that can be used to prevent that.

DS hopes:
So far this has been a year where I have used my DS the least. I played Picross 3D and Wario Ware DIY a fair bit but that is all. There are a few games maybe I want to get but hardly any from Nintendo themselves. It would be nice if at least they would bring some Japan only titles our way like the last Tingle game, Jet Impulse, Soma Bringer & ASH.
I get the feeling that most of their "core" titles will go to 3DS with the NDS taking mostly casual titles, they need to please both sides as a lot of DS gamers are either new to the handheld or wont be able to afford a 3DS for a couple of years and also what with the DSiXL only just released it would anger loyal fans if they didn't bring some core titles to the DS, they don't want to become the next Sega.

Well I'm done, I know I'll probably only get 10% of what I want at the most if that. I'm keen to hear what are the latest thoughts of you folks concerning Nintendo at this years E3. For those who abandoned the Wii/DS in favour of other consoles I'd love to hear what it would take for you to go back to those.

Whenever someone mentions the Vitality sensor, the Resident Evil life bar pops into my head. Could this be it!?

all i'm really hoping from nintendo at this e3 is something about the vitality sensor. it has a lot of potential in horror/thriller games and i'm hoping nintendo will flesh that out.

There was actually a rumour recently that Capcom had a new proper Wii Resident Evil game to show at their Captivate 2010 thing, turned out that that never happened but I'd like to think that that may be because it uses the Vitality sensor and Nintendo didn't want them to show it before E3.

Don't hope that.

To be honest, I really don't know what to expect from Nintendo. I can take all my logic and common sense and try to speculate what they will do, but they always have a different slant on everything and nothing I thought should happen ever does. So I'm not really going to bother to speculate. I'll wait until June and see what they show at E3.

But my hope is always the same......more cool games, less cutesy ones. And they need to start denying some of the freaking shovelware producers from making so many crappy games. Police the games going on the system a little. Stop the pure trash from getting released.

Like I said, stuff that will never happen.

3DS is likely a bust for me since I only have one eye to see with, so it won't be all that interesting to me.

Wii never did really interest me much. I thought it too weak in the specs for this generation of systems when it was released. It's not suddenly going to grow better specs any time soon.

All I can hope for at this point is some pleasant surprises.

Wii is technically superior than GameCube, inform a little yourself troll. Those that continue saying the Wii graphics are the same of GC, I can only describe as ignorant.

wii = gc*1.5 = simple re-hash with some sticks to wave around
the first wii dev kits were just wired wiimotes to plug into gamecube devkits ;p

Not going to happen.
Nintendo is a company and whether you like it or not that shovelware brings in money.

The best selling console is the one that gets the most shovelware. Last generation it was the PS2 and this time around it's the Wii.

People always ignore this fact.

Apple are doing great business with Shovelware on its app store.

I have no problems with shovelware, it can easily be avoided by research.

I ONLY WISH-FOR THE 3DS TO HAVE A FREAKING TITANIUM HINGE...thank you--it feels so good to let that out..

lol.

EXACTLY!

As you said Gaydrian, they'll probably show Metroid Other M. This makes me think that Nintendo pushed it back just so they'd be able to show it off at the E3 and get everyone to buy it.

I doubt it would have done better after showing it at E3 also the date they chose is up against Dead Rising 2 & Mafia 2 but on the Wii there is at the moment nothing to buy instead.

Originally it was up against a lot more not only on other consoles but on the Wii too. Sure it would do better against the Wii titles but its in Nintendos best interest to get those other games to sell better just so that 3rd parties keep bringing games to the Wii.
