i got this at goodwill a couple days ago (yesterday for me)
it's a lenovo thinkpad t450s
at first i thought it was really old (no hdmi or color usb ports, weird power adapter shape)
it was like 5 minutes until closing time but i had to make my frequent stop to see if there was anything good
there never really is, though (in terms of tech or gameing). the last thing i bought was a small tv that i hadn't realized the screen was broken on
i go there like every week. chances are there's nothing, or there's something slightly interesting but not really worth the money or hauling around until i decide i "need" it
this for $15, i had to pick up. even if it was broken in some way, something in it was probably salvageable and worth more than that i figured
this one though, i found, had a dead hdd. turned it on and heard a lot of clicking
going through the boot menu stuff i found that it had a 16 gb ssd in it as well as the ~512gb hdd
with some help from some kind discord users i was able to get linux installed onto the 16gb ssd, using an sd card and an adapter
i would be curious what was on the ssd and what remains on the hdd, probably nothing of significance though
i think it originally had windows 8.1, if i had to guess. i would prefer to use windows but with only 16gb available and the hdd out of commission, linux is my best choice i guess. i need to get used to using linux anyways
i don't really have a specific use for this rn but regardless it's cool
