Nintendo DSiWare Review, Cosmo fighters

Cosmo fighters is a DSiWare game that has a very simple premise, fight. The game sports a very simple design and gameplay, it's very reminiscent of an old Dreamcast game in the name of power Stone, up to four players can be on a single screen at the same time all duking it out to be the final fighter standing. There are weapons, power ups, and even a few super moves, but is that enough to save this five dollar downloadable game from being nothing more than a cheap clone, short answer: no, this is a cheap clone. Long answer: that's not really a bad thing.

When you first turn on Cosmo fighters you’ll notice a few things, the options are very limited. Your options from the get-go are share demo, multiplayer, one player, and help. Now there are couple of things about this game that are very unique, especially if their are multiple DSI's in your house or you know a few people that have DSI's,

On the share demo mode you can actually share this, with three other people and you can all play against one another without anyone having to own the game themselves, so in essence for five dollars four people could play this game, making it one of the better deals on the DSiWare,

After you sure the demo with anyone else that wants it then you enter into multiplayer mode and this is where the game really can shine. From here the options are still limited, yet it's where the game really takes off, there are two game modes team and battle.

In team mode you're able to set up teams three against one, or two on two, where you try to be the last team standing, while in battle mode it is an offer of everyone for them selfs free-for-all, the only real downside to all this is the fact that these options are only available in the multiplayer part of the game. If you're playing this game all by yourself and then only month option that you really have at your disposal is one player mode and the single player mode is a very basic simplistic arcade mode.

Once you click the one player button you have three options, continue game, new game, and records. You only continue a game after you've started a new game. This mode is basically an arcade mode where your opponents continuously get more aggressive, and you also fight more opponents at a time, building up your score until you finally can no longer go in which case your score will end up in the records, the problem here is in the records mode does not really hold anything to make an individual standing. You can't enter your name or anything to really make it your own, so it never really feels like you're high score was placed. Slso you always get the same weapons and power ups in each stage.

The stages themselves are all basically the same thing, although they do have different backgrounds, they all share: one big open area in the middle, with raising levels on both sides, the arenas you fight in do offer themselves a good amount of space so that there is enough room for all four people to do battle,

There are three different types of weapons although they all do the same thing, you can either hit with them or you can throw them, though I have not seen holding an item does more damage than just using a punch or kick. There is a sword, metal box, and some kindness space-age hammer. There also three types the power ups, while these power ups are fine they do not last a long enough amount time for them to really be useful, there's a lightning bolt that increases your speed, a POW block that give you a raise in power, and also an infinity sign which makes it so you do not become fatigued. The items and the power ups all fall from the sky randomly throughout the time of the fight.

The best part of game and really what it does right is the fighting, there's a simple punch and kick, but by pressing up or down you can then kick and punch respectively in the direction. The way to really do damage is by linking all these together in a combo, if you can and a opponent three times a third move will usually be more powerful and deal out a great deal of damage. There also a few special moves throughout the game.

The fighting feels good, it's fun and enjoyable. The only real downfall to this game is you're unable to actually set up matches you actually want to play, if you're playing this game for the single player experience it does lack a little bit of want, I would love to be able to play single matches as many times as I want were just one-on-one, but I'm unable to do that, or to set up a team mode words mode were it's me and a computer versus two other AI controlled opponents. I wish the four fighters that you're unable to choose from in single player were different unique stylized maybe had different move sets and also you could choose who you want to be. For five dollars this game is good as a four player arena power Stone-esque fighter, but that's all it's good for if you don't like fighting over and over again very repetitive nature if you don't have anybody to play this game with and this might be something you want to look away from I would give it a 7.0 I enjoy this game I'll play this game and I don't think the five door price was too much but at the end of the day I do wish that there was more.
