Nintendo Labo is Fun

The Nintendo Labo is a unique experience. I've had the variety kit since the day after launch, and it's amazing. I've made a fishing rod and currently half done with the piano.

I've only played with the fishing rod a little, but when you build it you will feel accomplished. It does take a while to build your creations, though.

The piano took some work to build so far, folding the keys was redundant. I can't wait to finish it though.

Keep in mind I'm 16 years old and I don't think that's too old to be playing with this.

The only issue might be that folding the cardboard might give you blisters in your fingers, I actually had one on my right index finger by scraping off gum from the bottom of tables at school when I was bored without using my fingers. (gross, right?)

Have any of you got a Nintendo Labo? If so, which one? Have you played with it?

I'm glad you have the common sense to realize you don't have to be 4 years old to enjoy this thing. I don't have one, but personally will probably get one. It looks fun to mess around with.

Oh wow. For whatever reason I thought building these would be easy.

Do you think 10 year olds could put them together without adult supervision?

I think a 10 year old would not have a problem. My 8 year old has helped me with the piano and RC car and he understands the instructions on the switch screen. The switch shows you step by step how to fold the pieces and what to watch out for. Also, you go at your own pace so there is no worry that it would go to fast for them to follow along. I too have had a blast with making the labo creations in the variety kit. I am 38 years old. I do not think you can be too old to build these things and have fun. The games, all be it a little childish, are a great addition to the accomplishment you feel when finishing one of the labo toys.

It makes me happy when i hear some talking in a positive way about LABO, making contraptions with and carboard was a already thing, but combining that with software and the switch's sensor and controlls, creating a a tiny plataform that impulse creativity and learning is something that i deepely apreciate.

I think you mean (annoying) repetitive. Redundant is if you fold more keys then you need for building the device e.g. as spare parts (replacments if one breaks) or because you build it together with someone else and a comunication error leads to you both making the very same work when it's not needed that both do the work. Possible that both happend (repetitive and redundant) if the keyboard comes with spare keys to fold, but I'm certain what you wanted to communicate is that this one part became abit boring due to doing the same over and over again :)

I'm for sure not in the age for Labo anymore, but to me it looks really fun and Toy-Con garage looks like a really fun way to experiment with programming if you can't actually program (or have no homebrew enabled system). Wonder how many fathers buy it "for there childs" ;)

Great that you openly say you like it, sometimes not that easy at your age :yay:

@JiveTheTurkey if you plan to pirate the software anyway, guess this could help you to get it "clean" and for less then 100 bucks. They sell replacement cardboards packs (of course abit more inexpensive then the whole package with software)

You don't need to be 4 years old to enjoy this, but I will never pay $70 for printed cardboard. Do you know what else has an extremely inflated price? iPhones, but at the very least iPhones provide some use.

I'm 19 and I want it. :P Studio Mode on the Piano looks quite interesting. And of course Toy-Con Garage.
