Terraria (Playstation 3)

So yeah, Terraria was released yesterday and I nabbed it because, well, I love Terraria.

So I guess my complaint is that it's $15 compared to the normal $10 on PC, plus the PC version is like always on sale for a much less. I think I got it for like... $1.24. But whatever.

It's a pretty solid port, and I'm surprised and how well it handles on the console. I hate to draw Minecraft comparisons (actually who the hell am I kidding, I love wanking on about how Minecraft is terrible) but this is leagues better than the Xbox 360 Minecraft port. You can quickmap items to the D-Pad as well as switch through your standard 0-9 list with R2/L2. I think the best feature is targeting, which I was wondering how they would handle. Basically the game features a sorta lock-on depending on the item you're carrying. So if I have an axe equipped the cursor (controllable with right stick) will lock onto nearby trees. However this doesn't work at all for building or precision things, so you can use R3 to change it to a free cursor where it won't lock on to anything and you can move it around freely with the right stick. It's very useful and a great way to make the game work well on consoles.

It has all the features of the PC version (actually some bonus content too). Another complaint is that it does have the odd bit of lag but it's not often and it doesn't last long. Also I wish the controls could be a bit more adjustable, I'm sure some platformer fanatics would prefer D-Pad platformer over analog platforming.

If anyone cares to play a game then yeah. It's fun with 3-4 people.
