I have a Wii that was modded from a long time ago that has started sprouting some issues. When I launch into any app (Mii Channel, The Homebrew Channel), the remotes disconnect. I was at first using a red Wii remote with Motion Plus Inside that worked for some reason (I have no idea why this remote worked, all of my other motion plus inside remotes never did). After the issue started with that remote I pulled out an old white remote without Motion Plus and it did the same exact thing. I really need some help with this as this was my first Wii and I don't want to mess it up that much. I have no idea how it was modded, I just know that it is years old at this point.

All of my Wii Remotes are official as well, so I do not know what to do at this point and thinking that the bluetooth is just on it's way out. Please help!

Use ModMii to update or re-mod your Wii.

Have a closer examination of the WiiMotes, as they may need servicing (open & examine the contacts).
It has been a long time. Leave the Bluetooth till last (if that's the issue).

I forgot to mention, my remotes work on every other console that I have and they have issues on this console only... I cannot get into the Homebrew Channel either as my remotes disconnect as soon as I go into the app, same with the Mii channel which should not happen..

Start comparing your consoles to see what differs between them.
Something (app/s, saves) may have gone bad.

Well worth checking the suspect Wii's battery.

What do you mean by the apps/saves going bad?

Hmm, okay. What kind of battery does it take? Will it get rid of saves and stuff?
File corruption causing erratic behaviour I assume.
Though, I heavily doubt that.
As for the battery, it's a CR2032 coin cell battery.
Only thing that will be lost if you replace it is your Wii's sense of time. Just set the clock correctly (either manually or with sntp) after you install a fresh battery.

From what I've encountered - There's more than just the time-clock to the Wii's battery.
PCs use a same/similar battery & it's not only for time.

Corrupt files/apps are subject to the same laws as cheap/er storage units, & it doesn't take much to screw things up.

The advice given is the simplest (first).
It's up to you if you want to delve into more hairy situation/s before you attempt the easier ones.

It may be that the sensor bar is not working or is badly placed in its input
you tried like this
1. Turn on the Wii.
2. While remaining on the health and safety page, press the "red sync" button on the wii for 15 seconds.
3. Press "red sync" on the wiimote
4. Re-press "red sync" on the Wii for a moment
5. Re-press briefly on "red sync" on the wii and "red sync" on the wiimote together

Well, I have tried this and the issue has persisted... I am at a lost for words at what to do now. The remotes still connect in the home menu, then disconnects as soon as I launch into an app. I am so sorry that I didn't do this earlier, I just tried it.

Which apps/games? Might be an issue with their used IOSes?

This issue hasn't happened until now, and I have not changed anything. It happens when I try and launch into the homebrew channel and the mii channel (I have not tried any other apps, because those are kind of the only ones I use on this particular Wii).

Could be minor corruption even if I doubt it.. Put a disc in and boot a game.

I do not want to update the console though... There is a blank disc in there for some reason. I have no idea why do not ask me. Like I said before, this was modded with some one else and do not want to mess with it too much, only to fix it.

The sensor bar is just a set of infrared lights and not something that transmits nor receives data. Whatever the OP's issue, it is not related to the sensor bar. As for battery-backed CMOS on PCs: Yes, your system configuration, including types and numbers of hard drives is stored along with date and time. Not sure if the Wii stores anything beyond the date and time in the area powered by a battery.

I'd run Modmii and update the Wii and replace the battery. One or the other should fix it unless there really is a problem with the bluetooth hardware on this Wii.

I am sorry for being late, the CMOS battery did not work. I also tried to run SysCheck ModMii Edition with a gamecube controller, I tried on one of my other Wii's first and it worked. I switched over to the Wii with the problems and the gamecube controller was taking inputs in the Homebrew Channel, and then when I loaded into the SysCheck it just stayed on a black screen. I don't know what to do for this...

The issue with the remotes disconnecting could indeed be related to the Bluetooth. Since all your remotes are official and you've tried different ones, it might be worth checking if there's any interference nearby. Also, you could try resetting the Bluetooth module on the Wii. If that doesn't work, it might be a hardware issue. Consider reaching out to a repair specialist if you're not comfortable troubleshooting further.

the legal drinking age here in the US is 21, as some of you may know, but i think either it should be 18 or the age you're an adult should be 21.

  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
and i know what you may be thinking, "why become an adult at 21? doesn't that mean that banging an 18 year old would be illegal?"
first of all, being in a relationship with someone who's 18 is technically ok, as long as it started when they were 18, but the age gap is still weird depending on how old you are. besides, the age of consent differs between different states
    +1
  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
also my reasoning for adult age being 21 is because the reason that's the drinking (and now smoking) age is because it "gives them more time to think rationally and not drive drunk"
so you should have that extra time to mature and think rationally before going to serve in the military or vote

  • BakerMan @ BakerMan:
tl;dr the "adult" age and the legal drinking age (and voting age) here in the US should be the same

What about making kids wait till 18 or 21 to drive? And yea is messed up, you can join army and die for your country at age 18, but you can't drink alcohol or smoke a cig til 21, is ridiculous

If someone is in the military they should be allowed to smoke and drink at 18.... Would help drive recruitment lol

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
We all know they do and will anyways. I think laws prevented them only pushes them to illegally do it. Even tho if was legal, most prob wouldn't even bother. Not a big deal or risque if its legal, no fun.

also, i think the voting age should match the adult and drinking ages too, because by the logic of giving them time to mature and think rationally so they don't drive drunk, then they should also have that time to mature and think rationally so they can think for themselves
