Yeah that sounds right. I remember there's some kind of manager app, but I don't have it, so direct download seems like the way.
For me the Revanced app is so bad. It leaves a .sh file that gets out of date and causes all kind of issues. I just changed my ways to start using Magisk modules instead.

Done, but will they disable it like they have about 6 others I've tried? They call them malware and won't let me use them.
I've never had that problem. I use uBlock Origin and SponsorBlock.
And also ReVanced on mobile (which does need manually updating sometimes when it stops working)
On PC it has been problem free, I haven't seen a single ad, nor have I seen the adblock nag that many people got.
Maybe try Firefox.

Why would you say that, it's simply not true.

There is a Root version and Non-Root version.

I use an add-on to hide Shorts. Can't stand that shit.
It was just a simple misunderstanding, jeez. I could have sworn last time I looked in like 2022 it was root only, but looking at archives I was wrong. Didn't think it was that important to update my post because like, the next post down someone had already corrected me ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I'm not paying to watch videos online. I'd boycott Youtube first. Easy decision.
People don't seem to mind it because it's ad-free, but ReVanced offers so many more options and it's free of charge.

YT Premium should allow to hide Shorts, right? It doesn't.

hmmm... there are quite a few shorts that I enjoy watching. But... just looking in Chrome right now on my desktop (and I don't have premium, mind you), I go to my "home" in YouTube, scroll down to shorts, and off to the right there is an X that says "not interested" when you hover over it. I wonder what that does?

I don't think you can block shorts officially. IIRC the "not interested" button is just to say "not interested in that set/the content of them".

On desktop blocktube is your friend and can completely remove them.

This is why I won't pay for premium. Pay for it, but then still need to run a load of addons or use a third party client anyway to make youtube usable.

I use uBlock Origin with SpoinsorBlock, and never see a single ad or sponsorship. I don't even get tricked into Linus Sebastion's segways into his sponsors anymore.
I have honestly forgotten what seeing an ad in Youtube is lmao. Like when somebody tries to show me something in a non-ad blocked device all I can think is "You really live like this?"

I don't mind if you show me a forced ad in the beginning of the video that's fine, but this interrupting the video MULTIPLE TIMES in a single video to show ads is BULLSHIT. I keep trying ad blocks but eventually they disable them.
The skip ad button becoming useless was the final nail In the coffin for me. You could tap/click it as much as you want but the ad will just finish playing its whole length

I ended up signing up for Maple signer(15/year) to get a dev cert for my iPad and iPhone so I could sideload a youtube app with adblock and sponsorblock built in. Now I can install this or any IPA without having to worry about it getting revoked

Youtube got greedy

Could have simply used Brave or uBlock Origin with Orion Browser.

This is the way! I mean if you pay for Youtube Premium. You still don't get rid of all the sponsors (also use Firefox)

I also use Brave(its low key the only usable way to use gbatemp on mobile now) but I dislike the mobile UI version of the Youtube app. Especially on smaller screen devices. You also cant cast to another screen from them

I wouldn't touch anything with Chromium at the moment. I just wait for how big of a shitfest or not Manifest v3 will be.

I just recently picked up a n64 from a garage sell, and looking to mod it and add a HDMI port to it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/3548173115...044&customid=4f3038da73b61afddf7e5e90f4153856

I'd like to find a power strip and HDMI selector built in 1 unit, so I can select which game system I want, and will switch to that hdmi, and power on that plug/power supply only, so don't have all game systems powered all the time, but can't find anything like. May just have to make something myself.

Maybe start a kick starter page and sell them, yea right. Big N would prob C&D me, not anything Big N related, but just because that's what they do nowdays. Then come out with they own in a year or so.

@Xdqwerty, Nice. Which operating system are you installing?
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
@SylverReZ, windows 10 and some linux distro like linux mint

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, Yeah, I'd recommend having another OS just in-case you want to play games.

    @SylverReZ, cuz of lag?
  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
@Xdqwerty, No. Whenever you use the internet on Windows, Microsoft collects personal data and installs bloatware that isn't necessarily needed, such as Edge.

    @SylverReZ,
I recall @impeeza mentioned some trick about not having bloatware when installing windows where you set up your country to "world" or smh like that

  • SylverReZ @ SylverReZ:
Yes, you can debloat the operating system, but in some cases for me it just reinstalls them.

  • impeeza @ impeeza:
@Xdqwerty yes, when you are installing Windows on the first steps you are asked for your current location, you MUST to select «international» so no bloatware is installed, because the bloatware is location based. if this night I have some time I will setup a VM and take screenshots.
