'Grand Theft Auto: Vice City' ported to the PS Vita

gta vice city vita port.jpg

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is not the only GTA port that the PS Vita is getting as modders Rinnegatamante and TheFlow have announced that they brought GTA: Vice City to Sony's handheld. Titled reVC-vita, this port is based on the newly-released reVR, the full reverse engineered reimplementation of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

In order to run Grand Theft Auto: Vice City on PS Vita or PS TV via reVC-vita, you will need to provide game files from your own copy of the game. Rinnegatamante posted a full installation guide and a link to download relevant files in the source link below. The guide also includes suggested settings for the best experience as well as known issues with this port.

GTA SA isn't the PC version, it's the Android version that'll be ported to the Vita.
I could be very wrong, but I think the Vita ports of GTA 3 and Vice City use the decompiled and reverse engineered versions of the PC game, whilst the San Andreas port uses TheFlow’s wrapper for the Android version.

*Edit: sorry misread your post and reiterated the same thing you said!*

I generally am not a fan of hackers releasing source code, because that ultimately ends up hurting the game studio in a significant way... but being able to play an old classic on an abandoned console is the best possible outcome of that, and I'm all for it!

Rinnegatamante/TheFlow are my heroes, keeping the dream of the Vita alive!

Is it too late to propose they call it gta vita city instead? reVC-vita is... How do you even pronounce that?

Still : great news. Looking forward to this. :)

Just because it's old doesn't mean it's worthless. A remaster or rerelease on modern consoles is something they could do, and I know I'd love to own GTA:VC (and others) on my Switch.

But now that this is out there, it's most likely going to get ported to the Switch as homebrew, which will cause problems for Rockstar if they did actually want to release their own version.

....but the chances of getting a Vita port from Rockstar are slim to none, so in this case I'm ok with it

it won't affect rockstar at all because the vast majority of switch users don't have a hacked switch

also this is a 19 year old game on a dead console, rockstar isn't affected whatsoever

TheFlow needs to stop outdoing himself for being so legendary. He single handedly revived Vita into relevancy.

SD2Vita is a must have for anyone! Glad I piled up some physical + digital releases in 2018 when Vita prices weren't through the roof.

This will be like the Saturn of portables.

...do all versions of VC + GTA 3 work?

I have the original uncensored VC, and not sure about the earliest 3, but I think it is the earliest revision too

also any videos of this in action? Would love to see, too lazy to research this rn but just wanna see it in action

Are you European? The Saturn only did well in some European countries, Japan and some Asian countries.

I mostly remember the Saturn for Nights Into Dreams, a lot of Dating Games and that rare Digimon game that was never released outside Japan.

Is a shame Sega completely screwed up with the Saturn in the USA. Had they done a similar, yet less aggressive campain as they did with the Sega Genesis it would have done well.

For example, buy the Sega Saturn, get a game included.

But overall what killed the Sega Saturn was Sega hurry to launch the Dreamcast.

Oh and the Playstation of course.

What's really cool about Pi's tho is you can have multiple SD cards with different OS on each SD card and change from say a gaming machine to a full fledged pc if wanted
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Plus all bios are set up and usually includes at least 128gbs or 64

Yeah but if your main goal is just to play n64 and GameCube you can save about $50 and have the portability option

True, but on 2 monitors at 4k. Its just want you want really, to each they own.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
For a kids aspect Anbernic would be the better option they'd probably melt over the price on a good 4k display

For that texasroo guy, I'd recommend the Spell and speak as his first system.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
So they buy a pi5 kit for about $150 and say a 28" 4k display probably looking around $400 total
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They'll be getting in the territory of portable Pcs anyway
