A new update has been detected! Nintendo has just put out a system software update for the Nintendo Switch, which brings the console up to official firmware version 12.0.0. This time around, we have an actual reason as to what this update entails: a “rare” save backup error had been resolved. The changelog mentions nothing else, despite it being an update from 11.0.1 to 12.0.0. If you haven’t already learned by now, don’t update your hacked systems until you have the all-clear from established scene hackers.

Ver. 12.0.0 (Released April 5, 2021)
We fixed the issue with the save data backup feature, where in rare cases, the automatic backup of save data is interrupted if a communication error occurs during completion of the save data backup process.

There’s currently 64 that they check, and there’s an additional 32 they could start checking if they wanted.
They don’t have anything to worry about.
Interesting... I did hear 64 mentioned on a github comment, but here is where I found the 32 fuses explained. Is there somewhere I can read better information on this?

pk1ldr checks both FUSE_RESERVED_ODM6 and FUSE_RESERVED_ODM7, each consist of 32 bits, so a total of 64.
There's also FUSE_RESERVED_ODM5, which is currently completely unused and also consists of 32 bits, so if they were to start checking that, the total would be brought up to 96.

Yes, but oddly nothing in the interface seems to have changed to reflect this added support, i.e. there's no "pair a headset" option anywhere. I have no idea why they included audio support in their Bluetooth driver but didn't add a way for us to actually use it yet. It's a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma.

I am wondering what kind of codecs the Switch would be able to handle for Bluetooth? I kinda have my doubts that it's going to be aptx-ll or anything better than SBC.

Well, it's an indication that the hardware supports it and they're at least aware of the possibility of adding bluetooth headset support to HOS, plus if the official coders at Nintendo don't use the new driver's capabilities for anything, maybe in due time someone will create a sysmodule for bluetooth audio support in CFW. It looks like Big N is just being a naughty little tease for now, but I still say it's good news.

If you just want pi for emulation no point when Anbernic releases new shit every two seconds

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
What's really cool about Pi's tho is you can have multiple SD cards with different OS on each SD card and change from say a gaming machine to a full fledged pc if wanted
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Plus all bios are set up and usually includes at least 128gbs or 64
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
Yeah but if your main goal is just to play n64 and GameCube you can save about $50 and have the portability option

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
True, but on 2 monitors at 4k. Its just want you want really, to each they own.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
For a kids aspect Anbernic would be the better option they'd probably melt over the price on a good 4k display

For that texasroo guy, I'd recommend the Spell and speak as his first system.

  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
So they buy a pi5 kit for about $150 and say a 28" 4k display probably looking around $400 total
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They'll be getting in the territory of portable Pcs anyway

  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
Again you get what you pay for, its like buying a S series for $300 but its only 1440p native, if you want true 4k, gotta get the X model for $500. But yea you right, when moms buying it anyways, you gotta stay cheap.
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
They could use HD out on their TV no real need for a monitor these days tbh the purists will disagree
  • K3Nv2 @ K3Nv2:
I'm kind of phasing out on the need for wanting all these consoles cool to have but they just become dust build ups
  • BigOnYa @ BigOnYa:
I here ya there, I have too many myself, and have hard time letting them go, since most of mine I've modded at some point. Anymore I just play Switch on the go, seriesx at home.
  • Xdqwerty @ Xdqwerty:
    ack my throat

I need to invest in some storage totes tbh
