Dont you need the code from the back of a Game Manual to allow you to play online?

Not sure you won't get far in trying, it asks you to have you sign in to your Playstation Network account. (but that needs to have PSN working)

Lol There's no official online but there are various other ways, like Xlink Kai and not sure if PS 2 works with PS3 Adhoc Party.

Yeah, Read your post and it was the first thing I tried.
Loads. I get a black screen and that's it.

Nada.
If I press the home button I get the usual do you want to quit message (In japanese of course)
and clicking yes I get another message and it freezes and I need to remove the battery to turn it off.

Trying different drivers now.

D(full) can mean D, D2, or D3. It will always say the same thing.
